I think it'll be harder for dance/uptempo tracks to top the charts in the last 2 months, the X factor ballad season will rear its ugly head :P

I hope its early November, because the video should hit the music channels in 2 weeks, so its gonna be a while til the release date

People don't buy a song because they think 'Oh Rihanna's got beaten up so I'd feel guilty otherwise' :/. Besides, Chris Brown's ''Forever'' was charting high up on iTunes a few weeks back due to that viral wedding video thing.

No doubt Peter Andre managed such a huge hit single recently because it was a great record, and not because people felt sorry for him post his split with Katie Price; no doubt all those Michael Jackson records sold recently were because people decided to buy them because they were great songs, and not because he had just died; likewise all those songs that are played on X-Factor and promptly climb the iTunes charts are because people are reminded of them, and not bcause they become attached to them emotionally due to some over emoting singer on the show with a sob story; I could go on and on.

 

Rihanna was always going to come back with a huge hit single post her split with Chris Brown and she has hoovered up the sympathy vote. But that song is no Umbrella is it; and by Jay Z; Kanye West & Rihanna's standards a very weak effort.

In Michael Jackson's case, of course his songs were always going to rechart after his death - he's a musical legend. It's not really a sob story at all, just people appreciating great music after a worldwide star's death. Understandable I think.

 

As for Peter Andre, I seem to remember you stating that you thought 'Behind Closed Doors' was a great song, so obviously there are some people out there who genuinely like it. Plus, it was getting majorly bummed by Chris Moyles on his breakfast show, which surely can't have helped the chart position...

Peter Andre - people bought it because they liked the song, which had more attention drawn to it due to his high profile split with Katie Price (publicity I think)

Michael Jackson - his death brought his songs to people's attentions who hadn't listened to his music before, so they bought it

X Factor songs - people who hadn't heard the song before, or hadn't bought it are reminded of it
