I also doubt they’ll care much about such technicalities seeing as a #1 is a #1 and money is money. From a chart nerd point of view it will definitely give me the ick though All it needed was one more song from the original track list to be considered as a reissue. 🥹 Would be interesting if in Christmas week or the week after that, both original Kylie Christmas and Fully Wrapped are in the chart at the same time, although maybe Fully Wrapped will cause too much of a dent in Kylie Christmas for it to reenter. It would be interesting to know how the streaming sales are divided between them.

Now that we have confirmation about that… do we think Parlophone was aware of the rules? Or they just didn’t care about it becoming its own separate thing? It seems a bit shortsighted / daft of them to not ensure it added to the original Kylie Christmas chart run and sales! And they could have easily ensured that was the case with a more carefully chosen track list. So that technically means the #12 peak will continue to be Kylie Christmas’ peak, but we’re in with a shot of #1 for Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) lol. Will be interesting to see how this is noted down on her Wikipedia page. Have a feeling they’ll edit Kylie Christmas’ peak position, even though that’s not strictly going to be true.

There’s always more than one Amazon exclusive each year, so it’s negligible, Kylie’s getting the level of support she’s getting regardless of Gwen.

Tom Grennan didn’t have physicals available in this equivalent week last year (in fact his were only released in the week after Christmas chart week). While he was available to download at this point, his download sales were weak (reaching #82 in the download chart in this equivalent week last year). His music video never made the video streaming chart! So really, he was almost entirely driven by audio streaming at this stage. I just hope Amazon really goes into overdrive with XMAS next week!

^ The spreadsheet that this information comes from always has NEW in the “Last Week Position” column even if it’s a re-entry! So we can’t tell from this alone how the OCC is treating Fully Wrapped. What we need from the source is the “number of weeks in chart” information. If it’s only 1 week then it’s definitely treated as a new release, but if it’s… however many weeks Kylie Christmas has spent Top 200… then it’s been combined. In any case, we should find this out later from OCC’s Monday update. It seems like Kylie Christmas is quite safe for #1 as things stand. Sam Fender is #2 with 8,841 and Kylie outsold him based on Sunday sales so he’s not currently catching up. Only Olivia Dean sold more than Kylie on Sunday, but not by much, only 80 or so copies according to the source. XMAS is sadly lagging behind Tom Grennan at this same stage. He was midweek #3 at this point with 16,427 sales. Meaning Kylie’s only doing 61.5% as well he was doing in the equivalent period. I wonder why the Amazon effect is less powerful this year? Unless they really ramp it up next week, I don’t think XMAS will realistically a Christmas #1 contender. It may end up being the case that the week after is its best chance, which in a way would be unfortunate as the week after Christmas chart isn’t aired by Radio 1 as far as I’m aware.
