In 2001, Pink was back with a new image and a new sound. Get the Party Started is considered as one of Pink’s most successful singles, reaching number 2 in the UK. It is also Pink’s biggest hit in America, reaching number 4 in hot 100 billboard charts, tying with Most Girls. The song also reached number one in Australia and New Zealand, number 2 in 5 different countries and number one on the United World Chart.

It received a Gold certification in Australia, Austria, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. In Norway it got a Platinum record. The remix of Get The Party Started ft. Redman was certificated Gold in France

Get the Party Started was written and produced by the former 4 Non blondes front woman, Linda Perry. Linda felt that Pink was the right artist for the song, she thought it would be a big hit but it wasn’t Linda’s style. Linda also helped Pink through the new album

Pink decided to work with Redman for the remix of Get the Party Started. The song was remixed with Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. The song was only released in France, but Pink performed the remix on her I’m not Dead Tour, only without Redman

“Get the Body Started” was the advertising campaign for Bally Total Fitness. Pink teamed up with them to help promote Bally Total Fitness Membership. Get the Party Started was used in several commercials

In 2006, Shirley Bassey covered Get the Party Started for a Marks & Spencer’s Christmas advert. It is rumoured that the track will now be included in Shirley’s forthcoming album – entitled “Get the Party Started”.

The Music Video

The music video was shot in LA and directed by Dave Myers. The video starts off with Pink trying on different outfits to get ready for a night out with a friend, and ends with Pink dancing in a club. Linda Perry appeared in the video as the bartender. And Kevin Federline is one of the video’s dancers. The music video won “Best female video” and “Best dance video” at MTV Video Music Awards in 2002.
