HATECHART 2025 | RESULTS
I feel similar, most of the list was varying shades of average rather than much I actually hated. I do enjoy ‘Daisies’, ‘Your Idol’ and ‘squabble up’, so hopefully the latter drops out ASAP.

Record of the Decade: 2015-2024 - The Final Results [Full list on pg.6]
'Espresso' is easily the best Sabrina song I've heard, so not mad about that doing so well, but I agree that 'no tears left to cry' is another level. A perfectly pitched, ethereal comeback after devastating tragedy. I'd love to see that as a new winner. Elsewhere, I'm pleased 'Physical' kept up its top 3 streak <3 that was a needed moment of joy for me during lockdown before the '80s synth trend got a bit more saturated. It remains a thrilling moment in pop 5 years on.

Julian rates every Top 40 hit: the 1980s edition
I was intrigued to hear 'The Boiler' when a trigger warning was issued for its contents on SyncTube. Harrowing is exactly how I'd describe it too. I think we were all stunned into silence during that devastating final portion. It's one that would be difficult to return to (although I may check out its sole live performance one day when I'm in the right frame of mind, as I imagine that must have been pretty powerful) but I do appreciate that it's a well-made song that highlights a heart-breaking, important issue. 'Town Called Malice' is an absolute classic Weller paints a great picture of tough times and flips it infectiously with a message of hope, on top of the energetic production. I agree that 'Precious' isn't quite as good, I appreciate them doing something a bit different with the funky backing, but I usually check out of it after a couple of minutes. Elsewhere, 'See You' also particularly jumps out at me as a highlight ❤️

gooddelta ranks the UK No.1s of 1999
I agree with those saying 'Keep On Movin' is one of the best boyband songs, so I'm happy it's in your top 10! It was great to hear it again at the weekend as part of 5ive's medley performance during the Strictly Come Dancing final. I first came across the song as a kid when I had to do a cheerleading routine to it as part of an assembly! This was the same 'Going for Goals' one that also featured 'That's My Goal' and 'Three Lions '98'. I'm pretty sure that is on video somewhere good memories and such an uplifting, infectious pop song. Blondie are one of my favourite bands ❤️ I'd say the majority of my love is for their first four albums but 'Maria' was a strong comeback song and the added #1 status is a great chart story. Love that they managed chart toppers in the '70s, '80s and '90s <3 it's interesting that they just about snuck into two of those decades, in 1979 and 1999, meanwhile quickly ticking off the eighties during 1980

Scene ranks the 2007 #1s
^ oh yes, Louis did often put Same Difference down, but changed his tune when they came back the following year to perform 'We R One' 'Beautiful Girls' is dire, I agree that the 'suicidal' lyric in particular is jarring and his vocal performance is weak. 'Stand By Me' has slowly become an all-time favourite for me so thank goodness that eventually got a turn at #1 itself, as this out-peaking that would've been tragic. Random Sean Kingston lore drop - he used to follow me on Twitter years ago but then his account got hacked and unfollowed everyone, so I lost it Girls Aloud and Sugababes both have really strong singles discographies for me, so I was excited for them to team up. However, the groups behind 'Sound of the Underground' and 'Round Round' were given... this? A totally basic cover version. It's a shame GA's list of #1s isn't the most glowing endorsement of their catalogue!

EastEnders
Wow, I totally echo all the sentiments in this thread, I'm relieved the show can still provide high quality episodes after the amount of slop we've had to endure over the last few months. Karen Henthorn, Paul Bradley and Steve McFadden were all incredible. The last scene in particular between the latter two really choked me up and hit close to home. The younger versions of Phil and Grant indeed smashed it again as well. If I closed my eyes I'd assume it was Steve and Ross based on their vocal likeness alone. Lovely to see Pam St. Clement back for this! Of course they snuck in some earring dialogue I'm glad not all hope is entirely lost with this era if that standard is possible. This kind of episode is what has been sorely missed - strong character driven material with good attention to detail, loved the '90s touches in The Vic. Please deliver more of this Team Wadey!

90s Top 10 Sales- Week by Week- 1998
Pleased that Cher usurped Celine at the last minute on the EOY chart as I much prefer 'Believe' to 'My Heart Will Go On'. How impressive that she raced up so quickly. 'When You're Gone' and 'No Regrets' are my favourite new entries from the past couple of weeks so all is well in solo Spice and Take That world! I remember reading that Bryan originally wanted Sheryl Crow for the former so I'm glad he did have that chance meeting with Melanie C, as they work so well together. 'No Regrets' is a gorgeous moment in Robbie's catalogue the "guess the love we once had is officially... dead!" ending always gives me chills. ...however, 'Goodbye' is my least favourite of the Spice Girls' Christmas #1s. I had no idea the gap between them and Chef was so small 😮 My era of breakfast TV was 'girl-groups doing full on choreography in a Matalan wardrobe at 7am on GMTV' so I missed the chaos of the Big Breakfast years, but have watched some episodes on YouTube out of curiosity - Denise and Johnny had great chemistry as a TV duo! However, I can take or leave 'Especially For You' even if Denise is quite an underrated vocalist, with her stage background. Jane McDonald the 'Jai Ho' songstress only being 7 years older than me in these TOTP episodes has blown my mind though Thank you for a wonderfully informative thread as ever, Gezza! Looking forward to 1999.
