Starting this thread as qualification has started for the Women's World Cup next year. In fact for Asia it's already finished! The same teams as last time round with the exception of North Korea replacing Vietnam.

Interesting set of games - think it's a good initiative to get more teams playing international football. Eek at Curacao though, if they lose 5-1 to Australia then I do worry for them against Germany.

Wow at Italy missing out on their third in a row! Really happy for Bosnia though, they've ended up with one of the easiest groups as well. A shame Kosovo couldn't get a debut World Cup position, but Turkey haven't been in since 2002 so fair enough - same for Czechia. Sweden qualifying after getting 2 points in their group does feel somewhat unfair though!

I would have been happy with any of these teams qualifying but it's probably fair that these two did as they had to go through the most elaborate dance to get to the play-offs in the first place.

So these kick off later today as well with New Caledonia vs Jamaica and Suriname vs Bolivia. Hoping for an upset from Suriname (and New Caledonia as well but can't really see that one happening!)

Turkey are the first semi-final winners then! Certainly some interesting games to come - will Italy fall at the first hurdle again?

Thinking about it now - isn't there a reasonable likelihood that it'll get overturned again? I don't think you're really able to overturn a referee's decision two months after the fact? What would have happened if this had been done in a semi-final, would they force the final to be played again with the 'winning' team?
