BJSC 187 Semi Finals
I don't think I'd be able to join a Sunday one (ofc if other people want one go ahead x), but I might be able to do Tuesday this week Just got to be careful it doesn't create monstrosities like 'Bțatniki kă' #iykyk x Copy and pasting does work so that's at least one upside of the post-BBCode era!

BJSC 187 Semi Finals
YouTube playlists: Semi-Final 1 Semi-Final 2 ~ 'Pendulum' is only my second ever main contest entry that was released before 2000 (following µ-Ziq's 'Hasty Boom Alert'), I came across it back in January when I was trawling RateYourMusic for an entry for The Best Song Contest In The World... Ever! in the 'one word, one noun' edition, iirc I found it when searching for 'IDM' but I'm not sure that label really fits this particular song (certainly ambient and I also like the sound of 'toypop' which is listed as a secondary genre on the album). Obviously didn't send it there in the end but it's remained a song I've felt like going back to every now and then since so feels right to finally send it somewhere else. Apols to the long song haters (although the presence of Dobago's entry makes mine feel insignificant in comparison xx) but I've listened through this song in its full 14 and a half minute glory plenty of times and I never think it feels that long, it is quite minimalist but also gets very intricate~ and ~immersive. Hope it'll find some fans. Ideally enough to not be a third DNQ in a row please. x (This will be either the first time I qualify in a contest hosted by Skall or the first time I DNQ with a song over 6 minutes long, choose wisely! Funnily enough the last time I DNQed three times in a row also ran through a Skall hosted contest...) Thanks to Joseph for uploading the YouTube link I've used as I was too lazy to figure out how to upload it myself (there is another upload of it on YouTube but I didn't want to use that link as it's just on some random channel that could delete it at any moment). I paid £7.99 to secure the MP3 for that upload as I couldn't download the song separately on iTunes due to its length so had to buy the full album #dedication Again this month I think nearly all of the small number of songs I've heard already were from previously hearing them in PopJustice/Square contests. Of those 'Ambre' was easily my favourite so yes, a bit of modest early hype for Rd'Á, will see if any of the others grow on me. (There was another entry confirmed this month that I thought was a very interesting choice which I knew already but the country in question ended up switching to something else, curious to see if they may still send their original choice to a future contest!) Aside: Danny Ray and RAY being next to each other in semi 1 oh my

KATHALDAZIA
Honestly kinda shocked it's taken this long for Dev Lemons to show up in BJSC. I used to stan her YouTube channel but not watched it for a while. Her music is usually cool too so looking forward to hearing x

Longest and shortest BJSC entries
I jinxed it sorry. Villalobos coming in 2nd on this list and I settle for 14th. (Which is kind of neat actually because it is currently the only entry ever to have a run time of 14:xx oh my) Was wondering if it might be the longest song to not be the longest in its contest but not quite, forgot that TwerkNation28 and Marillion were in the same contest. What a pairing x (lest I provoke any further discourse, no I didn't send this song just because I wanted to be high on this list, but it's cool anyway)

BJSC 187 Semi Finals
Indeed :'( first Cumulonimbia-less contest since BJSC 129. Doctor B hasn't logged in for a couple of weeks, hope all is good and he is just busy observing weather and such x (we have also lost Dalisska for the first time since their comeback last year aw - but 4 returns this month, welcome back to East Rukahavian, Kylienips, Pagasa and Wholune x)

BJSC 187: Confirmations
I keep flopping when I send shorter songs so it's 14 minute songs every month from now on I fear x

That December 10 song is offensive. Jail instantly for ruining Cutting Crew. x

I already know and like your song actually!

Ghosts of Vetoes Past
Honestly there are a lot of songs in this thread that I barely even remember anyone attempting. But I'm sure they all made sense to at least some extent to veto at the time x If this wasn't clear it's because there was some internal dispute over whether or not sending the singer from MisterWives should count as getting the veto points for their past entries as a group.

BuzzJack Song Contest Wiki
Luckily it's a mission I've already completed although am hoarding until I eventually find enough time and motivation to finally finish revamping the Songs of BJSC thread x (clicky if you want to peruse - I plan to convert these to Google Sheets to be linked in said mythical Songs of thread revamp "eventually" but for now they're stuck in the archaic old Excel file format, that file contains all the available voting data in the contest's history though, plus some that is no longer viewable on the actual forum due to link rot but that I saved before it went offline, sadly some of the semi spreadsheets before BJSC 41 were either never posted or were already inaccessible by the time I started archiving) ((the reason I have still not posted this is largely because I'm in the painfully slow process of updating old artist/song tags, have been doing that on and mostly off for a few years at this point but I'll complete it eventually))

BJSC 187: Confirmations
And yet both of them combined plus the third longest song still doesn't quite match Arca's record for longest entry of all tarm x

BJSC 187: Confirmations
Just for funziez, pending the two reconfirmations, these are the song lengths in this contest (anonymised of course, but spot yourself). All taken from Spotify, except for one song which isn't on there (but it is on Apple Music so Pavita/Jacob/Juranamo and maybe some others get special treatment this month). There were only two songs above the 6 minute mark in the last contest so we do have a pretty notable uptick to (at least) 9 this month! But only the one behemoth at the top is longer than last month's longest, and only the top two are longer than last month's second longest. I don't personally consider songs in the 6 minute range to really be notable for being 'long' but I'm sure a lot of people do. x Still around 2/3 of all the entries are at most 4 minutes, and the average length is 4m 43s, or 3m 59s excluding the top two songs (which I think is pretty much bang on average, I tend to think 15 songs equals roughly an hour). 37m 8s 14m 37s 8m 45s 7m 24s 7m 3s 6m 51s 6m 21s 6m 1s 6m 0s 5m 59s 5m 46s 5m 17s 5m 1s 4m 59s 4m 59s 4m 53s 4m 37s 4m 30s 4m 23s 4m 19s 4m 13s 4m 0s 3m 58s 3m 53s 3m 48s 3m 44s 3m 44s 3m 36s 3m 36s 3m 36s 3m 33s 3m 32s 3m 31s 3m 27s 3m 25s 3m 24s 3m 23s 3m 18s 3m 15s 3m 10s 3m 9s 3m 8s 3m 0s 3m 0s 3m 0s 2m 59s 2m 59s 2m 58s 2m 57s 2m 54s 2m 49s 2m 49s 2m 42s 2m 41s 2m 40s 2m 36s 2m 34s 2m 33s 2m 30s 2m 18s

BJSC 187: Confirmations
I'm quite behind on the discourse but I do hope Jonjo will still participate, would be a shame to pull out completely rather than just maybe having to skip through one song possibly two if 14 and a half minutes still counts as excessively long. (Your decision of course though x)

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 31/07/26
Eh I wouldn't consider him taking a good song and just releasing a cover with basically nothing changed (except for it being sung by his considerably more grating voice) as counting as a good song from him. Better than most of his originals though I guess.
