Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

I really don't understand her logic in not releasing a physical!? I mean Anymore got to #1 on the physical sales chart she can easily shift 1000 'limited' copies at £5 a pop and make some decent money off it...
Someone like Mel C would easily sell a couple thousand physicals, I really don't get why they don't do it. It's the same with Kylie, they only released a physical as part of a bundle but it was enough to get Dancing in the Top 40.

I guess she might be trying to funnel her fans to download and stream it as much as possible. Spice fans are very stuck in the 90s it always shocks me on Spice Circle when a portion of them don't stream at all and some still only play CDs.

Newer acts never have that sort of issue and all their fans streaming away just keep increasing the artists overall sales.

I don't do streaming - if anything these recent "scandals" that's caused things to be pulled from streaming has made me more convinced that physical is the way to go. :teresa:

Unfortunately I have nothing to go off to guess sales for 12th June and 19th June! The above 5 weeks of sales adds up to 1,525 though... so I wouldn't be surprised if she's sold 1,700+ downloads. While that's not astounding, it's of course better than nothing!

Honestly, Mel spending five+ weeks on ANY chart is impressive for her admittingly low standards, as pathetic as sales are. The biggest issue for BIOM seems to be that it keeps free-falling on weekends only to pick up on Monday through Friday. It would be nice if it could start being a bit more stable through out the weekend.
That's the famous "weekend effect" that was always noted in the iTunes threads here when iTunes counted for more. People listen to the radio less at weekends (see also: the weekends generally being weak days for Spotify streams), so the songs being downloaded are more likely to be those heard out and about - ie. the established hits, rather than purposely seeking out new music. It still exists now and Blame It On Me is a key example!

This, she's not setting the official chart alight but she is with the #60-100 section of the download chart (:kink:) which honestly must be her best in downloads...ever? 50 sales or not it's having some impact and rightly so, it's a great song <3

Edited by Andrew.

Her dropping down at the weekend is I'm sure because fri/sat/sun are the biggest sales days for downloads. New tracks and albums help to prop up the download chart on those days and by monday the sales are dropping off again from those new releases and older song pass them not because they are selling more because those new songs tail off very quickly now.

Indeed, a bit of a snub! I would have thought this classic single finally going Platinum would be more than notable to be worthy of a tweet. Lol at us only getting to find out a week later!

Amazing for this to finally happen. It does feel like justice (I know that sounds dramatic, ha). For years it came across like a slight misstep for them (for breaking their string of #1s and only being Silver surrounded by all those Platinum hits). It really deserved more in 1998, so it’s fantastic that it has platinum status now.

It also means that their first 9 singles (i.e. all their 90s singles) are all Platinum certified, which is an incredible achievement!

Can't wait for Headlines to be certified.
First and only girl group to have their first 9 singles go Platinum and I believe the first girl group to have every single release from their first two albums go Platinum too
Aren’t they the first group / music act to achieve this?? Incredible if so. Well deserved for Stop it’s going to easily end up as one of their best sellers in the years to come 😍
