October 28, 20222 yr I was amazed Sweet Caroline hadn't made it but despite its 1971 release here, it was released in the US in 1969. So that fits their 'original release' rather than 'UK chart entry' format for this, which I would have used. A very interesting chart anyway, that's incredible for Africa to be the highest 80s song. And just shows you how many songs that are now classics didn't just miss No.1 but sometimes missed the chart altogether, just four No.1 singles in the top 20, we don't always get it right at the time!
