Emeli teamed up with the Brian Ferry Orchestra to record a cover of Beyoncé's 'Crazy in Love' as part of the soundtrack for one of this year's biggest films, 'The Great Gatsby'. A stunning cover, and Beyoncé can certainly learn a few things from Emeli in regards to how covering a song can actually sound GOOD - unlike the atrocity that she and some other irrelevant person attempted for the same soundtrack. It's so different to the original, and in this jazz version the song sounds like it actually has a meaning. It's not *deeply* meaningful, and it does sound like what you would see couples dancing to in the 20's or something in the village hall, but still fabulous! Emeli's vocals give it something it obviously didn't have before... fabulousness. :kink: A shame that this has placed last, but it was to be expected considering there will be a lot of enraged Beyoncé fans out there unhappy that she has ultimately made the song 10x better than it was, or people who haven't heard it and what have you (definitely not worth such vile scores like '0' from Regina though :cry:)

Another of Emeli's great collaborations sadly falls out now, and this time it's one she recently recorded with Alejandro Sanz (who also features on a Spanglish version of 'Next to Me', recorded earlier in the year) and Jamie Foxx. There's something a tiny bit different to Emeli's vocals in this song, but it's for the better. She sounds very raw and very powerful here, as if the message really means something to her, despite not being her own song. The video that goes hand in hand with this is also fantastic (even if they used photos of Emeli that weren't exactly the best - and ones that you could tell were ripped straight from Google), a great little story about the young children that Jamie and Emeli once were. I hope this isn't the last of collaborations between Alejandro and Emeli because they've proven that when they get together (alongside the other irrelevancy), they can produce a cracking song that really should be a hit!

When I heard James Arthur was going to be collaborating with Emeli for his début album, I was lost for words (and amazed). He's definitely my favourite X Factor winner, and among my top five to have come from the show in its ten year history, so to have him teaming up with my idol and recording such a beautiful duet (having already worked with her in the writing process for some of the songs on the album), was just such a fangasm. I really hope this becomes a single at one point in the future, maybe to provide a bit of alteration among what seems to be so far promotion for James' 'trademark side'. You can just imagine the video being so very gorgeous with James and Emeli uniting at the end, or something along those lines - which would be great. Although some will probably object considering Emeli's had a fair few duets / singles released as a feature artist this year already, but that doesn't matter. :kink: BOO @ Regina giving this '-1' though.

'Easier to Cry' leaked earlier this year on, I believe, Perez Hilton's website and is a fantastic song! Has some very strong lyrics in there about being in a relationship. Much like 'Call Me What You Like' (another song that leaked earlier this year, but has since been removed from all websites on the internet, boo!), this song is supposedly one of the left-overs from 'Our Version of Events' that didn't quite make the final cut, and when fans tweeted Emeli about how much they loved the songs she wondered how they had managed to find them. :lol: Hopefully this is one that she picks up for touring in the future, and possibly gives it a little polish ready for putting on a new album, but I doubt that will happen. Shame it probably won't get any recognition outside of the fanbase either.

Surprised at her leaving it off in favour of songs like 'Easier in Bed' (although the acoustic version of that is actually very beautiful!). Currently not available for download / on YouTube (boo!) but it's still lingering around on Tumblr (woo!).

The first song from 'Our Version of Events' is, unfortunately, 'Clown'. Obviously everybody on Buzzjack has some sort of unfounded hatred for the song, which is why it has suffered a great deal here. It's a beautiful song, such meaningful lyrics, and all of her live performances have been wonderful. It does seem to get whored out a fair bit (*cough* The X Factor *cough* - although who could complain when it's QUEEN SAM BAILEY getting them?! *.*), though, so maybe that's why it's disliked a fair bit now. Meh. Oh and the VIDEO for this... just perfection! Probably her best (as far as putting a message across goes).

I WOULD NEVER GIVE CLOWN A 10.

I'm hoping for more songs in the same vein as this in the future from Emeli, as it is something that really suits her and she needs to experiment a little more (obviously what is happening with album #2 anyway - yay!).

'Clown' is almost like the prime definition of beige, I still can't believe that was a top 5 hit and 'My Kind Of Love' did not much at all. :angry:
