UK Chart Run: 1-1-1-3-3-3-5-9-14-18-23-25-31-33-34 (15 weeks)

Irish group Boyzone are narrowly defeated in the battle of boyband vs girlband to be next eliminated. The single was taken from their third album Where We Belong and continued the group's impressive run of always charting in the top 5 by becoming their fourth #1 single. An Andrew Lloyd Webber composition, it managed 3 weeks at the top, the most of any of their #1s. 4 further top 5 singles followed before their first split in 2000.

Clearly It's Like That is going nowhere so I've switched to Goodbye as the others are all better.

I don’t understand the logic of voting for your second least favourite instead of your least favourite, in a poll asking you to vote for your least favourite…

I voted for: Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply

I agree, it kind of defeats the entire purpose of the game for me. I know everybody's free to vote for their own reasons but that's why I consider rates more accurate than survivors because people just end up voting tactically.

actually think B*witched is the weakest one now

Spice Girls again for me.

I don’t love that Boyzone track but it is definitely not as bad as most of their other tracks were. Not sure I can forgive it for keeping Stardust from #1 though

Sticking with the Spice Girls. Surely it's gotta go this time?
Have to say that the Pras track has aged really badly. I liked it at the time but meh now, it’s a real mess

On my part, I wouldn't say it's a tactical vote. Despite the impression I might have given above, It's Like That and Goodbye are very close together in my affections and today, I'd rather listen to the former. I've been tossing up switching to Goodbye for a couple of rounds as prefer the LeAnn, Celine and Boyzone songs to it too. Stop would win every time though, as I wish it had in its chart battle.

The other four remaining I do like quite a lot more than It's Like That though, so I will return to that afterwards until it goes.

This is making it sound like I dislike Goodbye - whereas actually it's a fantastic 9/10 song. It's just that 1998 is my favourite year ever for music.

The logic is that if you think it’s going to be between your second least favourite and something you really like you might vote for your second least favourite. I don’t see a problem with that really - it’s just getting round the limitations of the first past the post voting system. :D

Tactically voting for my least favourite song for a 5th round in a row because... it's my least favourite. 'Goodbye' isn't bad, but it's just a bit too similar to some of their earlier hits to retain my interest in it.
