It's not particularly standard procedure, and we do have to think through people's wishes with regards to this - for example, people who haven't yet decided, people who wish to send songs in the future, and so on and so forth...

Well, if I recall correctly in the past there has been at least few competitions where the reservation thread was closed before the confirmation, just not like in the past few competitions. And no-one really didn't have any objections to that then. It isn't like there is some act in the reservation thread I would like to use or anything so it isn't like I am trying to play to my own advantage here. I take this as a fun competition to find new songs (and that is how it at least used to be) and I think it has evolved from that to something quite petty if people reserve whole bunch of artists just to make sure others cannot use those so that they might use the artists later on. Many good unknown songs won't get entered at all then and that would be a shame.
September 15, 200915 yr I can't think of many examples where unknown artists/songs have been reserved with that aim...normally if it's still reserved by the end then they'll be intending to use the song in a future contest.

SURELY, doing that completley defeats the POINT of the reservations, because then everyone will just wait and use everyone elses artists anyway and it becomes a free for all... totally pointless, especially for those who haven't decided yet :/

You are guaranteed points from me if you send a certain someone :wub: I hope he goes for the collaboration with the less cheap artist he has also reserved, rather than her conveniently freshly leaked lead single. It seems the new rule needs a rethink. It doesn't feel any less cheap. We still have the likes of Alicia Keys, Chipmunk and Agnes being considered. (though I know Rich wont send her single)
