Posted September 22, 200915 yr BOTH RELEASED: 12th OCTOBER 2009 http://i33.tinypic.com/svjfqb.jpg The Saturdays debut album 'Chasing Lights' went on to sell a little under 260k to date. With 'Forever Is Over' looking likely to become a big hit in a couple of weeks, can 'Wordshaker' debut and peak higher than 'Chasing Lights'? Or will they fall under the pressure and feel the "2nd album flops" effect? http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B001U3ZYUW.jpg The Veronicas are set to finally release 'Hook Me Up' here in the UK. 'Untouched' was a surprise Top 10 hit as it peaked at number 8 in the UK charts and has managed to sell over 220,000 copies to date! '4Ever' is released on 28th September 2009 and looks to be a moderate success. Can 'Hook Me Up' give the girls their long awaited and much deserved UK break? GO! GO! GO! :D
September 22, 200915 yr Sats x2 by miles. The Veronicas album will be an epic flop. Top 20 max and then bomb.
September 22, 200915 yr Author I think The Sats will peak higher, but I really think Veronicas will last longer and be a surprisingly consistent seller...
September 22, 200915 yr The Saturdays on both questions. Sats will sell higher (first week) but Veros will defo be below them. I can see it Sats sell more, but Veros can sell a lot of albums too if they picked the right singles. Edited September 22, 200915 yr by FM11
September 22, 200915 yr I don't see The Veronicas album doing well, sadly. :( Top 20 at the most. The Saturdays will probably make the top 5.
September 22, 200915 yr Sats for both... based on the lead singles from both artists, this is not a good thing
September 22, 200915 yr I think The Sats will peak higher, but I really think Veronicas will last longer and be a surprisingly consistent seller... This tbh :)
September 22, 200915 yr I dont think either will be as sucsessful as they deserve tbh. I think The Saturdays will definatly go top 10, around 6-8. As far as overall sales go, it depends if they make the right choices as far as second/third/fourth singles go. The Veronicas could very well go top 15, however since they havent picked a good third single imo i cant see it holding up well. Its a shame though since they have amazing tracks on that album. BTW do we really consider Untouched a suprise hit? If anything i thought it would do better than peak at #8.
September 23, 200915 yr I'm going to go with The Veronicas on both counts. The Saturdays' album is being released way too soon after the last one and it will undoubtedly get lost in the noise of Xmas releases. The 1st single is nowhere near as strong as their previous tracks and frankly it's an odd decision to release the album before Xmas. Both albums are Top 10s based on the weakness of other releases that week, but both will suffer from 19th October when the Top 5 Albums that week will probably be completely comprised of new entries. '4Ever' will hang around longer than 'Forever Is Over' though and will help the album sell more OTC for the year. Edited September 23, 200915 yr by funkmaster
September 23, 200915 yr Sats for both... based on the lead singles from both artists, this is not a good thing THIS
September 23, 200915 yr I went with the saturdays on both votes but i dont think either will end up being huge sellers, modest sales for both i thinl
September 23, 200915 yr Out of them The Saturdays for both but Editors release their new album on the same day and I think they will sell more and chart higher. But that's not the question so sorry.
September 23, 200915 yr I'm not looking forward to either, but I think The Saturdays will do it, purely because of their fanbase. The Veronicas or The Saturdays aren't exactly going to sustain sales - they are not Kings of Leon or Duffy. They will both sell modestly, but 'Wordshaker' is coming way too early.
