From the It's Not Alright blog:

FYI I set this blog up as a way of getting peoples voices heard, i'm not opposed to putting up letters disagreeing with the anti-piracy stance or the proposed legislastion as long as they are not personal jibes directed at myself. I am just standing up for what i believe in and i want to listen to peoples thoughts/opinions on the matter. Slagging me, my music and my so called "family connections" off, and calling me a government puppet is not going to get anyone anywhere, so stop it. I think people assume we artists are a lot richer than you think we are, please bear in mind this doesn't have anything to do with me or my wealth.

Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause). I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.

The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as i'm concerned, so i don't(at this point) stand to profit from legislation. except future purchases of previously recorded material(which wont be much).

I'm not totally surprised.

But after being initially cynical of her career to begin with, she has emphatically proven me wrong and I have no doubt that she is going to be this generation's Tracey Ullman and a long and lengthy career awaits her as an all round acting/presenting/media writing just like her father.

Oh well Dannii Minogue better enjoy her last year as a judge on X-Factor then.

That's a big shame, so does this mean no more singles?

you serious? Simon wouldn't let someone with an actual opinion sit alongside him!

I hope this isn't true. Lily's albums have both been very honest and innovative records, something lacking in music today.

 Lily

I hope she's still finishing her tour!! I have tickets for NOVEMBER! :drama:

oh f*** sake. could this week get any worse?

First Keisha is sacked, after 4 days of the management dicking about the fans even more than usual and now Lily gives up while throwing every toy she can find out the pram

Who's next?

Awwww no! This sucks, I love her music. :( I saw her live in Bristol in March and she was amazing, I'm hoping to see her again in December.

I think this is a pretty stupid reason imo to quit music. Im gonna kind of steal quotes from a post Aaron made in anothe thread here but plenty of artists who had been much less sucsessful than her recenlty have not been complaining so why is she?

She'll no doubt come out of retirement soon enough anyway.

Who else are you a fan off? :o It's not looking good!

Apparently her label are doing damage control now:

"She is not quitting pop music and is still promoting her current album, which is why she said she is not thinking ahead to another record."

Hmm...didn't sound that way!

Came as a shock to me, when I heard... I just hope its just a rumour.

She posted it herself. :(

Oh don't say that. :drama:

Mutya has to release her second album or at least leak the full version of Heat!!!

That's both my AF's in the space of 3days :/

This had better not be true :(

Ugh this sucks! 2 mega albums and 2 number 1's and you call it quits!

Music artists really don't care about the fans anymore do they?

I'm gutted. Her new album is fantastic as well. She quits after releasing her best material.
