A lot of Will Young's songs from what I gather don't refer to either a man or a woman. They're ambiguous so can be taken either way which I think is better.

I think it may have only been his debut single, "Evergreen" which references a woman. But as far as I remember he came out publically just after he won so he'd probably recorded it before then. I think lately it's more ambiguous which is better, I agree, I don't think he'd be as popular if he specifcally sang about men.

 

I don't follow their material, but I imagine Mark from Westlife and Stephen Gately had referenced women in their material as a group. I think it was only Boyzone's final single where Stephen was with another man in the video.
