I can see what she means. It's such a complex video with so much going on (mostly down to its length tbh) that I imagine she rewatches it and sees all of the stuff she could've done better. It's by far her best video though.

10 years ago, Gaga released "Telephone" featuring Beyoncé as the second single from The Fame Monster. It reached top 10 in over 30 countries and has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. Grammy nominations and VMAs, the song and video continued Gaga's stratospheric reign over pop music a decade ago.

10 years on, what are your thoughts on the song?

10 years of Bad Romance • your thoughts now

The Fame Monster • 10 years on

Oh my god has it really been 10 years?! Well, 13-year-old me was certainly bowled over by the video and it still doesn't get old now

The video is still iconic!

About the song, the lyrics are not very good (more like Just Dance level) and one can see why this was offered to Britney in the first place. But it is a banger! I can understand why Gaga of the ARTPOP era didn't like this lol

10 years?!

The song is a bop, but you can easily overplay it. It's her most nor.al song in that it fits in with the contemporary landscape more. I hate almost all of the video and only like it once Beyoncè appears, but even then it feels like it's clutching at straws at times to try and be like Thriller.

I still really love both the song and video. I know it's throwaway but it's just so much fun and it's not weighed down by any pretentiousness (well video aside I guess but even that's on the right side of it) that means it just works on an out and out pop level.

It's one of my least go-to singles and I consider it to be one of her most "basic". The video however is unbeatable and I remember how addicted I was to it back in the day and how obsessive I was, showing any and everyone it. A moment!

'Paparazzi' is my fave video but I can obviously see why people think 'Telephone' is. The video is an iconic pop culture moment

It's one of her weakest singles but that's a testament to how incredible her music is because it's still head and shoulders above what most pop artists put out

Paparrazi is in my top few for sure. Bad Romance and Judas would complete my masterpiece set from her!

There were quite a few Gaga outfits at our party last night and most of them were from this video so I'd say it has had the biggest cultural impact of her videos, maybe alongside Bad Romance.
I feel like it's her most faceless, generic and anonymous single ever. It doesn't really have any essence of her and feels like it could just be by anyone.

It’s not her weakest single but it’s not her best either.

I actually think Just Dance is her most basic / generic track but Love Game is her worst single despite it having a Gaga essence to it.

Telephone snaps at times! I listen to it quite a lot and it’s definitely her best music video. It could still be a big hit in today’s charts as well.

I don’t really think Britney could’ve pulled this off and made it into a hit though.

it’s an incredible pop song with around 8 different hooks all at play - it’s insane. basic it is not.

the video had such an impact culturally - so many of the outfits are instantly recognisable of gaga, this video + the pop scene at the time. it’s still one of my absolute favourites from her.
