Posted November 25, 200915 yr Hi, I was not sure where to post this, so I'll just post it here. I just wanted to know whether 'Shakira - Hips Don't Lie' is really the biggst selling single of the decade worldwide? I have seen this on the internet a few times, but I'm not sure whether it's tue or not. I'm relatively new to Buzzjack, so I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I really hope this is true as I love Shakira and 'Hips Don't Lie.' Thanks in advance :) :) Edited November 25, 200915 yr by Peter JB
November 26, 200915 yr Worldwide that is a tricky one as sales figures are not available everywhere. Maybe someone will know but I do not.
November 26, 200915 yr I can't imagine it's true. 2006 was pre- downloads sales exploding in the way they have in America in the last two years, as far as I know.
November 26, 200915 yr According to yahoo music, as of september 2009, world wide. 1. Hips Don't Lie (featuring Wyclef Jean) – Shakira 2. Crazy In Love (featuring Jay-Z) – Beyonce 3. My Humps – Black Eyed Peas 4. Toxic – Britney Spears 5. Womanizer – Britney Spears 6. Oops!... I Did It Again – Britney Spears 7. Stan – Eminem 8. Low – Flo Rida 9. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams – Green Day 10. I Kissed A Girl – Katy Perry 11. Just Dance (featuring Colby O’Donis) – Lady Gaga 12. Bleeding Love – Leona Lewis 13. Hung Up – Madonna 14. November 26, 200915 yr Wow at Britney and Shakira!!! I never realised My Humps was that big a hit worldwide.
November 26, 200915 yr I just can't get you out of my head boy your loving is all I think about  Glad that's in the top 20 worldwide :D Edited November 26, 200915 yr by Charli
November 26, 200915 yr That doesn't look accurate, Poker Face would have very easily passed JD worldwide by now. Plus there's too much Shakira.
November 26, 200915 yr Shakira's been the underrated champion of this decade in my opinion, constantly coming up with groundbreaking, high selling pop music, yet still not in the same league as Beyonce/Britney/GaGa in terms of superstar status :(
November 26, 200915 yr Author YAY - I'm just glad people are posting as this is the first thread I've started! :) I did think POKER FACE would be at least in the top 20, though I think she probably will be by the end of the year. However, I do think that Shakira is number 1 though, as on Wikipedia it shows 'Hips Don't Lie' as the biggest selling single from the noughties and I'm pretty sure that I've read it in other places aswell :) :) (I hope she's #1 anyway) :) :) x
November 26, 200915 yr But Poker Face would surely be bigger than Just Dance? And Umbrella only #16? Umbrella may have been number one in the UK for ages but it was at a time of very low singles sales. Some weeks it was only selling around 25000 and it took a long time to reach 500,000
November 26, 200915 yr Go Shakira  never realised that UYC was so high, but apart from that it looks pretty right
November 26, 200915 yr "Hips Don't Lie" at number 1? I HATE that song :puke2: And I'd have expected "Bleeding Love" to be higher
November 27, 200915 yr Is this just the 00-09 because wher is Elton John and Bney M and the likes

November 27, 200915 yr Agreed 100% Shakira is truly global but struggles in the UK for the recognition she deserves I'd say shes doing so well becasue she sings in English/Spanish 2 of the 3 mostly spoken languages in the world. She'll have sales from Europe, The US, Central America, South America, Parts of Asia, Australia and South Africa. What other artists consitantly sells in all these place? Go her

Go her  she's pretty big in Russia and middle east and huge in Mexico (amongst many other places). not many UK or US acts can boast the same. And she has also done some songs in Portugese so that helps with the Brazilian market too. I'm trying to think of somewhere she is little known but can't at the moment though I'm not sure she's done much in the Chinese or Japanese market (biggest in the world currently ?)

So many clear errors it is laughable.
