January 1, 201015 yr I loved the use Angry Andersons song suddenly for the wedding, i love the song since it was used for scott and charelenes (kylie and jason) wedding in neighbours over 20 years ago, i think part of the scenes replicated that wedding but with a vert different twist at the same time.
January 1, 201015 yr Ya hard to believe its all over, but i live in hope of a christmas special maybe next year or the year after.
January 1, 201015 yr With the ratings it's got I wouldn't be surprised if there were to be a special in the next couple of years.
January 2, 201015 yr Interesting to see what ratings it got tonight, if eastenders hada high an audience or near that of christmas day gavin and stacey should also gain from that.
January 2, 201015 yr Mmmmm. When I watch a show finale, I like to be able to guess how it finishes ..... and then hope to be completely wide of the mark. On New Years Eve in my local watering hole four of us were discussing how the plot development for Dr Who #10 would end and regenerate; and how Gavin & Stacey would end. Suffice to say I was way off the mark with Doctor Who and totally on the money with how Gavin & Stacey ended including the wedding sequence = Predictable = Boring. A great series for the first two; but it seriously ran out of steam in series 3 perhaps because some of the characters I was so charmed with in especially the first series were starting to really get on my nerves in Series 3 (especially Smithy & Bryn). Indeed the highpoints of this Series 3 for me were the increasing use and development of Doris ("Dor") & "Rudi" (Ruth Smith). When Gavin & Stacey started it was the best British comedy on TV; by the time it finished it had fallen behind Outnumbered & The Thick Of It. Whilst to be brutally honest I much preferred A Child's Christmases in Wales (a one off BBC4 pilot (also shown on BBC2 over Xmas) by Ruth Jones playing the matriarch who finds Christmas a chore) which also featured another excellent cast Mark Lewis-Jones; Steve Spiers; Paul Kaye as well as two decent young child actors, which I would love to see developed into a full series. Comparing that to James Cordon's comedic efforts Horne & Corden and the 2009 film Lesbian Vampire Killers it is pretty clear who was the "George Michael" and who was the "Andrew Ridgeley" in that writing partnership.
January 2, 201015 yr great ending but Im so devastated its over, Nessa is one of my fave tv characters EVER
January 2, 201015 yr Totally agree with TIP about the wedding - did anyone actually expect Nessa and Dave to end up married? It was an all too predictable end to what was otherwise a very good series, albeit not as good as the brilliant Outnumbered. Also agree about A Child's Christmases in Wales which was delightful. There was a programme about Victoria Wood over the weekend where someone stated that she was happy to give a lot of the best lines on her programmes to other members of the cast. The same can be said of Ruth Jones.
January 2, 201015 yr Author When Gavin & Stacey started it was the best British comedy on TV; by the time it finished it had fallen behind Outnumbered & The Thick Of It. Outnumbered is appalling. One of the worst things I've ever seen and unbelievably over-hyped. I thought it was a great episode. No, this series hasn't been quite as laugh-out-loud funny as previously but it's been even more charming and you truly care about the characters.
January 2, 201015 yr Ratings: 21:00- Gavin And Stacey: 8.70m (29.6%) Fantastic :w00t: Up on the usual 6m, and rightly so. Great last episode
January 3, 201015 yr It finished with strong ratings, 2nd highest ratings of its whole run, it was just a amillion short of those that watched on christmas day.
January 9, 201015 yr 'Gavin & Stacey' to return at Christmas? Saturday, January 9 2010, 16:12 GMT By Catriona Wightman Rex Features Larry Lamb has suggested that Gavin & Stacey will return for a Christmas special. Lamb, who played Gavin's father Mick in the sitcom, explained that viewers will want to know what happens to the characters. According to the Daily Mail, he said: "There will be a Christmas special. Clearly the audience loves it and I would be very surprised if it did not come back for a Christmas episode. "Viewers will want to know what happens to them all. I would hate to see it just die." Meanwhile, a BBC source reportedly said that it would like some more one-off editions of the show "as a treat". Lamb's fellow cast members have previously ruled out further episodes of the comedy, which finished on New Year's Day.
January 9, 201015 yr With the ratings it's got I wouldn't be surprised if there were to be a special in the next couple of years. Knew it would
