December 28, 200915 yr Actually all the loonisms in this thread have persuaded me to come up with a Dido top 10: 01 Isobel 02 Sand In My Shoes 03 Hunter 04 Take My Hand 05 Here With Me 06 Stoned 07 Thank You 08 Mary's In India 09 My Lover's Gone 10 This Land Is Mine 01 No Angel (one of the greatest debut albums of all time) 02 Life For Rent (great in parts but too patchy overall) 03 Safe Trip Home (a dreadful, dreary affair) I really did want to include both Don't Think Of Me and All You Want too and in reality they're better songs than the acoustic numbers from Life For Rent but I do quite love the barmy lyrics of Mary's In India. The debut is such a strong album though and aside from Honestly OK and My Life every song is nigh on a 9/10. My Lover's Gone is wonderfully depressing and I'd quite love to see her pursue the ice cold dance direction of Take My Hand for an entire album (not that she'd ever dare).
December 28, 200915 yr This is exactly my position. Three decent singles and a Stan connection does not make the Queen of Music. It's a joke. Surely Amy Winehouse, Nelly Furtado, even Beyoncé has done more for music this decade. Never mind all the leftfield people like Bat for Lashes, Bjork, Santogold, MIA..... Yeah, I like all them - but Dido is better and therefore, the Queen of Music :) :)
December 28, 200915 yr Saying Dido is boring, etc PLUS, it has been stated before that this is an APPRECIATION THREAD, to appreciate Dido, so no Dido bashing please. When your ready to apologise for your hurtful words, I'll be more than happy to except :) :) When I first encountered this thread I wasn't aware that it was devoted to apprecaiting Dido. I understood it to be a discussion of the proposal that Dido is the Queen of Music. I was disputing that. I now understand that this is not up for discussion so I apologise and leave you all to enjoy Dido. :)

December 28, 200915 yr Yeah, I like all them - but Dido is better and therefore, the Queen of Music :) :) Better by what barometer? Your music taste? If we can start doing that nowadays can I have permission to start a KHIA appreciation thread? All you ladies pop yo' pussy like this.

December 28, 200915 yr Is this joker for real? Funnily enough I'm listening to Dido right now. See You When You're 40. Not one of her best, I think it's fair to say. See You When You're 40 is actually me fave Dido track :( It does what Dido does best - chilled-out and mellow. I guess that's why I also rate Northern Skies. My Dido rank 01. See You When You're 40 02. Stoned 03. Here With Me 04. Northern Skies 05. The Day Before The Day 06. Isobel 07. Take My Hand 08. See The Sun 09. All You Want 10. It Comes And It Goes
December 28, 200915 yr Oi! PeterB DidoFan - listen and listen good. You are back on a knife edge as you were unbanned by another Admin. Not my choice but there you go. I WILL ban you permanently if you continue with your spammy troll-like posts on the forum. Plus, this is a entertainment discussion forum so you do not set the terms of who can say what in a thread you started. This is now a discussion about IF Dido is the 'queen of music' and that it shall remain. If you don't like it, you know where the door is. <_>
December 28, 200915 yr So I can start slagging off Dido again? :) Constructive slagging off is more than welcomed :D That way, we get a discussion ^_^
December 28, 200915 yr Restateing my last point for the sake of re-opening the discussion Three decent singles and a Stan connection does not make the Queen of Music. It's a joke. January 7, 201015 yr Thought this needed a bump to get people talking about Dido again. :) BTW, sorry for any offence I've caused anyone, I'm going to tone it down now :)
January 7, 201015 yr She's a good singer-songwriter, although i wouldn't call her the Queen, her last album didn't exactly sell as well as the previous two. I thought Don't Believe In Love was an okay track actually. Classic Dido.
January 8, 201015 yr I love the 'Life For Rent' album, it's currently the only Dido i own. 'White Flag' is simply epic! A travesty it didn't goto #1.
