Ooh...excitement! I'm liking Aled and then Casey hosting. Neither of them have done it before, or are huge BJSC fans (or at least not as big as quite a few!), it's quite refreshing really.
Yay @ me for such a good way to bring up some bad memories (like you winning MY BJBB AWARD :'( )

Kiddin' obvs. <3

:kink: I totally deserved it! :P

Aw, memories <3

I used to love trampolining in high school - my friend had a huge one in his garden - it caused many a social gathering!

Yeah, I love it <3 . I train like 6+ hours a week, and end up travelling all over the country from competitions, which looking back is a bit outrageous considering I'm probably not on the trampoline collectively longer than 5 minutes

A great top 4 I thought, great to see BaNG win with Elly and for Eledan to finish top 10! Really should've given Xanaga points too. As usual, the songs I hate most do well in 5th and 6th...

Thank you ! Was a shame jj didn't qualify :(

cheeky! I thought people were past using Keri Hilson after her 17th BJSC appearance but clearly not :kink:

obviously loads of other people liked By My Side as much as me or else it wouldn't have finished the highest out of all of the hugely hyped Swedish pop entries - if this 'sound' wasn't relevant in the modern day BJSC then By My Side would have DNQ'd not finished top 5!!! So there's clearly still a place for it whether people like it or not - and yes I'm more than aware that there are Swedish pop haters here but that doesn't affect my love for the genre in any way whatsoever. I'm glad I sent it - far from being 'past these sorts of entries now' I don't have a specific type of song/genre that I aim to send - I simply send the song that I love the most that isn't cheap/uninspired - this month it happened to be Caroline - other months it happens to be more respectable songs a la Emiliana Torrini/Blank feat Young Ivy. I'm not aiming to impress anyone with these entries and won't be 'maturing my sound' any time soon to try and win votes, I just want to introduce my favourite song to people - if people like it great, if not then fine, I don't like every song sent to the BJSC either! The day I change my style of entries to fit with the general 'sound of the time' of the contest is the day that I might as well not bother participating at all.

True. Still, it achieved her highest finish to date, which I think validates her being sent again.

Obviously. I'm not saying the sound is irrelevant, there'll always be a market for Scandipop, that'd be too generic even for Eurovision, in the BJSC. I just find them being entered completely boring and predictable, though I suppose it's better than my usual cheap entries. :drama: The fact that that song fits the typical "less than 3 minute, key change etc." stencil for Eurovision should suggest that it's one of those dime a dozen tracks. It's a shame we can't get over it, like Eurovision seemed to when Charlotte Perrelli flopped.

You shouldn't change your style at all, perhaps I was too personal. I meant to show my general disdain at what feels like the same song, by a different artist, finishing in the top 5 every other month. You just happened to send it this month.

Could be worse, most swimmers do over 20hours a week for a tiny amount of time in the pool 100m Free swimmers train so much for 50odd seconds

Will we be getting an overview picture scoreboard? :)

:cheer:

Did anyone see Hendinia voting for Metric (Zechonia) coming? I certainly didn't :kink:

I didn't, but thx. :D

I think it was very different, for a scandipop song (and I am feeling an implied dig at me here tbh, but anyway). By My Side is mid-tempo, has a string-based arrangement, that would almost be rock if it had more guitars, and Caroline's voice make it sound more like a demo for Evanescence, and Within Tempration... I'm very glad it came top 5

You now have 1, 12, 1, 1, 1, 12 off me! :heehee:

Such a JOKE jj didn't qualify. If i had voted now I'd have given them a full 12 without any doubts because they are fantastic! The only album i have been listening to this week is №2. I might enter something else from them later. :o

It's not like you gave them 10 points, only one, nothing shocking. :P

Aaron's said he's not taking a 'dig' at anyone, so I highly doubt he is.

There's only Caroline in this contest. Af Ugglas :smoke:

I was about to defend my song choice with a similar comment

I don't see how it's exactly like all scandi-pop songs, her vocals are completely different - Nightwish like in places, and it's quite a dark pop song, hardly like the usual happy fluffy scandi-pop. Being from the same genre doesn't necessarily mean that all of the songs are as worthless as each other :( I'm really struggling to think of any other top 5 BJSC finishers that sound like By My Side  besides, there is lots of Scandi-pop that I would never dream of listening to - it's a vast genre - some good, some bad just like every genre

 at least my one qualified :P

Snalla Snalla was a ridiculous flop -_-

It's a shame we can't get over it, like Eurovision seemed to when Charlotte Perrelli flopped.

there are probably about 20-25 out of the 40+ participants that like Scandi-pop here, I doubt it's suddenly going to disappear - I think it would be a bit odd if I suddenly started hating my favourite genre of music - I'm not ashamed that I love it because it cheers me up and makes me happy, cheesy or not it's the truth

Scandi-pop's been dead in Eurovision for years - I was even surprised that Carola managed top 5 in 2006 - this doesn't mean it's a worthless genre, it just corresponds with the amount of new countries coming into the contest who don't listen to this sort of thing. As I wrote about in one of my dissertations last year about cultural taste varying from country to country - I really can't imagine the likes of Aqua and Alcazar having a strong following in Bosnia-Herzegovina or Armenia, just as ethno-folk doesn't go down well in the UK and Denmark. The more eastern countries that have joined, the lesser the impact of Europop in the contest - because they obviously don't like the genre as much as others or haven't been exposed to it much.

2 hr 23 min 'til the reservation massacre :dancing:

That's in less than 20 minutes. :kink:

Looking at the FLOOD of people in this thread i'm worried :(

5 points actually. :kink: I know it's nothing ground-breaking, or even that shocking. But, baring in mind all the poppy stuff we send, and where the majority of the points go (in terms of a genre) it surprised me to give 5 points to something from the indie-genre, amongst plenty of pop/dance entries.

It'll be a few minutes late  only just got in from college :o
