Do you seriously think that Rage fans are bulk buying !!!!!! I very much doubt it.

 

I think it's down to the fact that every decent radio show /station is bigging up the Rage campaign too. I cuaght the start of Zane Lowe's show last night and he played it with the very good interview from the lead singer...

That's what I don't understand. If the OCC don't disqualify this campaign, then what are their rules made for? This is a campaign directly aimed at disturbing the charts by mass buying a song in order to make it chart to number 1 - A song that would never chart without the campaign.

Spiidey. This is to close to call, I agree. Ive been doing all sorts of calculations, but cant call it. Saturday sales will really decide it. I note RATM have increased their lead on Itunes this morning to about 150%, making it even harder to call!.

 

General observation. SuBo on for 300K + this week?. going on yesterdays sales.

Yeah, way too close to call. Whilst it's fairly clear how Joe's downloads are panning out, its just impossible to predict what Joe's physicals are going to do over the next 3 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday).

 

Add into this its just impossible to work out how much more RATM can sustain their download momentum, and I just can't call it.

 

SuBo - 139k sales in Wednesday mids, could be looking at around 350-400k this week total.

I would love OCC to disqualify the whole Top2 tbh. :heehee: But if not, then RATM for the win, it is still original song by original artist while when we look at the another cover by SC puppet... well, for me the choice is obvious.

 

Tomorrow's midweeks will be crucial. If the gap doesn't decrease RATM will still have a chance, if it decreases... The new life of British charts and especially the Christmas chart won't happen at least this year.

If you are that worried then maybe you should contact the OCC. I expect some Joe fans are also bulk buying though they are obviously not as organised as the RATM campaign. Also dont know what sort of effect the Daily Star headline will have on the campaign now that people are more aware that Sony benefits either way.

But to be honest, Joes single would never have charted without the x factor. If he just released it as a 'normal' act, ie not on the back of a huge tv show...it also would have sunk.

Both singles have relied on huge publicity for success, one in the media and one on the internet. I dont think you can single one out as particularly unfair over the other.

Completely agree - both songs are as bad as each other in that their position in the chart is mainly (wholly?) due to mass exposure/publicity and not for Xmas reasons.

 

Neither can be singled out as "should be disqualified" IMO.

Seriously though, when it comes to predicting sport it's a much harder thing for the bookies to get right, but even then they manage it a large percentage of the time. When it comes to something that they can predict with evidence (daily sales patterns), and experience (Xmas number 1 betting for many years), they will get it right 99% of the time. For us punters, it's all about guessing the right outcome (following the bookies 'favourites'), but getting the best odds at the right time.

 

I'm going to find the best odds available on Joe, and make myself some easy money. :yahoo:

It's not corruption. I hate the X Factor as much as anyone but the show is incredibly successful and that is no fault other than the British Public who watch in their droves FFS. Can't stop that.

 

They want to buy the single. Then they can. Nothing corrupt about it. It's all fair really.

It is corrupt, if you only have a basic interest in music you are already being fed with the song 24x a day at least. Next to that, 100k of the single has been bought by Simon Cowell himself as no one can stand the dross.

The bookies will stop taking bets on Joe soon, for fear of losing too much money. They will still take plenty off you if you want to bet on RATM though. My bookie has just e-mailed me and said he will give me a special Xmas bet (for a good customer) of 10-1 on RATM. Yeh right! -_-
