Her debut single will now no longer be released in February but has been pushed back to April 19th- the month after her tour, which starts on March 20th and ends on March 27th.

 

The single features the hook, "You only get to kill me once." It's written by Cathy Dennis (Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head') and Eg White (Will Young's 'Leave Right Now' and Adele's 'Chasing Pavements') and is supposedly quirky and synth-based.

 

It will be the lead single from her debut album 'Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree', which will be released on the 3rd May.

 

Personally I think she has a good chance at a hit here, it's got excellent writers and Vickers herself would have built a stong fanbase by then with her lead role in The Rise And Fall of Little Voice and her own tour, where she will be previewing tracks from her album, including I'm guessing her single. I think she has a better chance in the charts than Laura White, who is the person she can be best compared with. White peaked at #32 on the official UK charts and #2 on the UK indie singles chart earlier this year with her debut single 'Should Have Known'.

Nope. I reserved her in the hope of something (other than 'Jumping Into Rivers') leaked! But I guess with it being pushed back until April, we're not going to be hearing it for at least another month, end of Jan/start of Feb! :drama:

I think that juding by that she'll have at least top 20. course, it all depends how good the sing is. according to the digital spy article it's 'synth-based'. I could see it being quite little boots. :wub:

Fanbases count for nothing though. U2 have a massive fanbase yet they struggle now with chart success because of downloads. Same can be said for a load of artists. To have a hit now you have to release a track that appeals to the masses. I would have said her single would go Top 20/30 anyway just off the back of her name but I can't see her doing majorly well unless it really is good.

Didn't like her on X Factor, but can't wait to hear the song, sounds so good.

She's had rave reviews from people who've heard the single, and RCA are really putting money into her being a success, with a promotional tour etc. That, added to the fact that she is one of the most memorable contestants on any reality show, says to me that she'll be a hit. I do, however, think she's going to be more of an albums artist than a singles.

Not fair for me to say. I've no reason to doubt what i've heard as i've heard the same from other people who knew her before X-Factor.

Why even mention these supposed stories if you're not going to go into detail? That's just annoying and elitist, even if you didn't mean it to come off like that which I'm sure you didn't. Total pet hate of mine though.

 

Anyway I'd hate it if I ended up liking this song because she is utterly horrific but I bet I do. :(

they will. they're both different and new sounds, whereas alex is same old.

Aaaaah I actually can't wait for this! I hope I'm not disappointed, as at the moment I'm thinking I'll adore whatever she releases.

I completely agree. I'm not expecting much singles success for her, Top 10 debut, Top 20 follow-up, everything else released just scraping Top 40 or something. But I'm expecting her to appeal more to the crowd who buy albums as opposed to singles.
