December 27, 200915 yr 5) The Charts of Sunday 3rd January - for W/E 9th January ^ This will be included in 2009 EOY then? It's so very unusual for two weeks after the Christmas chart to contribute to the end-of-year chart, even in years gone by that had '53 weeks' the Christmas chart was the penultimate chart included (2004 springs to mind).
December 27, 200915 yr Dev just confirmed the YE chart will be next sunday so next week will count towards 2009, so Gaga is not a certain best seller Well that's that then, lol at the confusion over the past week. Hope GaGa stays at the top. :(
December 27, 200915 yr Right - I've checked:, 1) The OCC began their Charts/Sales for 'The Noughties'/Decade with the Charts that came out on Sunday 2nd January 2000. 2) That means that they began the Decade with the Charts of Saturday 8th January 2000. 3) They end the Decade with today's Charts - 27th December - for Week Ending 2nd January 2010. 4) They also end 2009 with the same Charts. 5) As far as I know, the Charts of Sunday 3rd January - for W/E 9th January - will NOT be added to either 2009 or 'The Noughties'. 6) It is up to 'Chart Fans' if they want to follow The OCC in this. I DO, as I like my Sales & Stats Lists to match those of The OCC, & UK Chart Books..... 7) The 2010 'Hit Singles' Book, (Virgin - November 2010) - will have a 'cut-off' Date of W/E 2nd January 2010. thank you for making sense of this lady gaga :):):):):) => she is also number one in the year end world chart :)

The Christmas chart in 2004 was Week 51 of the 53-week year. Band Aid 20 were the Xmas #1 and again the following week, then Steve Brookstein climbed to #1 in the final week of the sales year 2004. EDIT: Made a mistake originally, corrected now. Edited December 27, 200915 yr by Danny
December 27, 200915 yr Only Steve's sales for the Christmas chart counted towards the 2004 EOY chart though.
December 27, 200915 yr Author Dev just confirmed the YE chart will be next sunday so next week will count towards 2009, so Gaga is not a certain best seller Yes she will be - Joe M, is not going to sell much over 200k this week, so he'd need well over 200k next week too - and that just isn't gonna happen. At least we know the answer to my original question now. Edited December 27, 200915 yr by vidcapper
December 27, 200915 yr Only Steve's sales for the Christmas chart counted towards the 2004 EOY chart though. No, he wasn't released in time for the Xmas chart. He entered at #2 on the chart that was issued on Boxing Day (ie. NOT the Xmas chart), and then climbed to #1 in the final week of the year.
December 27, 200915 yr Sorry that was my mistake, I did actually mean to type the chart after Christmas chart. Also I've just seen that his sales from the week he climbed to #1 did indeed contribute to 2004. Mistaken all round.
December 27, 200915 yr Kingofskiffle & I do not always agree. He may well be right - the Chart of Sunday 3rd January 2010, (W/E 9th January 2010), MAY well be added to 2009 - and, (therefore), 'The Noughties' Decade. It's just that this would mean that The OCC do not start their 2010/New Decade Sales until Sunday 10th January - the Chart of W/E 16th January. It seems rather late to me..... They ENDED the 1990's Decade Sales on W/E Saturday 1st January 2000 - meaning that they started their 'Noughties' Sales on Sunday 2nd January 2000 - W/E 8th January 2000.

I may not disagree with you - I may have been misquoted. I don't actually disagree, btw. What I said was Next week’s chart is, although dated W/E 2 Jan 2010, based entirely on sales from 2009, and so is not the last chart for 2009. Next week’s sales period runs from 20 to 26 Dec 2009, so will not feature a look back at the statistics of 2009. That will be reserved for the final sales week of 2009, which is actually the chart dated W/E 9 Jan 2010, based on sales 27 Dec 2009 to 2 Jan 2010’ I made no mention at all of the OCC or how they define things. Honest! I suspect more was read than I intended.
December 27, 200915 yr Most of this week (Dec27th - Jan1st) is in 2009 (only Saturday is in 2010), so this week will surley count towards 2009, if common sense prevails.
December 27, 200915 yr I'm pretty sure Radio 1 not running the end-of-year chart today is proof that next week counts towards 2009. Presumably they got clarification from the OCC before deciding.
December 27, 200915 yr That would then mean Joe would get no.1 :( I cant see joe selling 200k next week, id be surprised if he sold half that.
December 27, 200915 yr The Hit 40 Uk top 100 will be on music channels this week so that means they won't broadcast a top 40 of it on radio.
December 27, 200915 yr Yes she will be - Joe M, is not going to sell much over 200k this week, so he'd need well over 200k next week too - and that just isn't gonna happen. At least we know the answer to my original question now. I dont think it will be Joe, and I still think PF has the best chance Its just BEPs I gotta feeling isnt far behind it, and will probably get another boost this week because of the 'itunes gift card' effect Anyway, hope this doesnt happen and the better song wins Edited December 27, 200915 yr by chart wizard
December 27, 200915 yr The Official top 40 selling singles of 2009 is on the Viva channel Tomorrow at 5pm, the albums are on same time on Tuesday. :D
December 27, 200915 yr The Official top 40 selling singles of 2009 is on the Viva channel Tomorrow at 5pm, the albums are on same time on Tuesday. :D Might take a look at that, but I still think there are 5 sales days for 2009, but I imagine sales this week are not going to make much difference to the top 40.
