First of all, how will people forget Get Sexy. A #2 smash, and the last single released by the Babes with Keisha on it, it's one of their most distinct sounding and memorable singles they've released, if not the most distinct and memorable!

 

Secondly, a correction, About A Girl was not a minor hit :wacko: or have you been unaware of its peak and sales tally? It was a top 10 smash that's looking to end off sales between 130 and 140k!

 

And lastly, do you have a talent for predicting bad omens? Just because you THINK the album will bomb, doesn't mean it will. In fact any logical prediction will be that it will do anything but. Who wouldn't want to buy a new album by one of the most successful girl groups of all time, an album that's already yielded two top 10 smashes that have both sold brilliantly - and with Wear My Kiss most likely to follow the same trend - exactly what will realistically cause the album to bomb? Nothing!

 

'About A Girl' WAS a minor hit, end of. I think 'Wear My Kiss' is going to follow in the same pattern as that but who can say? I predict the album will bomb, so let's see who is right when it is released shall we?

It'll probably enter in the top ten due to the fact that it's not a very competitive period of the year they're releasing, but I can easily see it bombing out of the charts and end up being the swan song of the "Sugababes".

OMG :rofl: The saddest thing is that he thinks a #8 which spent 4 weeks in the top 40 'proved how much of a fanbase they still had' after Keisha left when the last single with Keisha was #2 (that said, it hardly had a spectacular chart run). And also he acts as if the Sugas are his property, seriously, if I said 'OMG Bloc Party are so shit!' (actually I do say that sometimes because I personally think that they are shit) I wouldn't expect people who do happen to like Bloc Party to be emotionally hurt by it, or consider it to be like 'lame little playground bully[ing]'. :rofl:

In all fairness to Get Sexy's chart run. As utterly $h!t as it was [the chart run, i ADORE the song], it really wasn't help by Keisha's sacking and the band subsequently being turned into a laughing stock :(

Agreed... their popularity was on the wane with the Catfights album, then they come back with a new sound that divided people only to sack the one original member of the band - the onl affect it will have is a bad one

Also love how you pick on AAG, and not the 80% of other girlband and Sugababes singles that have had a similar top 40 run to it. The Sugas did EXTREMELY well regardless of the circumstances the single was under: X Factor flooding the charts, little single promo and the Keisha drama.

LSHLP#1: Pixie Lott's Boys And Girls was pretty much a default #1 because sales were VERY LOW. If AAG had those sales and was #1, it would be a #1 with really low sales, which is a hell of a lot worse than a #8 with decent sales. I'm 'picking on' AAG because it happens to be their most RECENT single. Who really cares about single from their old albums, some of which were very successful and some of which turned out to be spectacular bombs (C&S)? We already know how the album turned out in those cases, and it's the album that matters. The Sweet 7 album isn't released, so it's only right to speculate about its potential success or lack thereof. And no, it didn't do "EXTREMELY well", it did "okay". I'm not calling it a MASSIEV FLOP LOLZ!11!!!1!, I'm calling it a 'minor hit' which is exactly what it is. And just fyi, I'm not a 'hater' - Get Sexy was absolutely awful, as is WMK, but I actually really like AAG, and I've been a big fan of a lot of their previous singles as well.

 

LSHLP#2: A second single that sells about 140k ish overall and peaks at #8 when released AFTER THE ALBUM is 'anything but a minor hit' - if it's out before the album, and especially when it's by such a normally high profile artist or group as Sugababes, #8 with 140k ish total sales is a MINOR HIT. Positions and sales defining a major or minor hit or indeed an enormous flop depend on the artist - a #15 single for Lady GaGa which is from a new album that has yet to be released would be a flop, a #15 single for, say, Biffy Clyro would be a minor hit, and a #15 for a new artist with no mainstream exposure whatsoever in a genre that rarely does well here would be a big hit. Change the artist to Sugababes and #15 to #8 and they're in the middle category (ie. a minor hit).

 

LSHLP#3: The adjective 'abusive' does NOT mean that the 'victim' feels abused, it means that the 'attacker' wrote/said/typed/faxed whatever the text/speech/fax is in a manner intended to abuse. And me and JamesP are far from 'BFFs' - if you're looking for that, I would guess the closest person you'll want to look for is Chris/Mr Self Destruct. But I don't know that for a fact because I don't know JamesP very well.

 

LSHLP#4: People like you who refuse to learn very basic grammar are the reason the English language is dying. It's the last piece of culture we have left, we can't let it die :manson: And you can go jump off a cliff if you're going to respond to this saying you don't care about the English language.
