April 27, 201015 yr :o I'm loving 'Born Free', the video really fits well with the song - even if it does put its message across in a, shall we say, forceful way. Can't wait for the album :cheer: Edited April 27, 201015 yr by nickthenoodle
April 28, 201015 yr I screamed when that boy's head got shot - that was freaky. I know, I like the message but I find the whole thing a bit ... depressing/shocking. I guess that's what it's aiming for but I don't think I could watch it a second time.
April 28, 201015 yr Amazing video. Amazing. I love that she finally has a super political video to match the messages behind her songs.
April 28, 201015 yr Love it properly. It's great that she had a commercial success to be able to make such gorgeous videos. The song on its own isn't that great but totally matches the video. 5/5 from me.
April 28, 201015 yr Wow! That is very impressive and very disturbing... I guess I can see why some people are upset over it. Thanks Arrs
April 28, 201015 yr Can someone let M.I.A. know she's forgot about the annoying guy in the Bernard Matthews advert? Seriously though, I'm not a fan of the song or the video. I just think video's like that aren't made for Music videos. Fair enough, if it was the soundtrack to a film or something, but it comes off as desperate to me. Desperate for attention and purposely doing it, just to create a reaction. I dunno. I'm just not feeling it.
April 28, 201015 yr Born Free is no Paper Planes imo, but I still quite like it, hopefully it'll do well to make up for Paper Plane's fail
April 29, 201015 yr I don't think it'll do well. But M.I.A. knows that too. She knows she's not a single selling artist, she's too alternative for that. This will just help boost the album sales.
April 30, 201015 yr Author The release date is set. The buzz is growing. And now M.I.A. has chosen the lead single from her eagerly-awaited album. The “Paper Planes” rapper, who recently returned to the U.S. after visa problems, has selected “XXXO” as the first single from her as-yet-untitled third album. The catchy electro-pop song will be available on iTunes May 11, Rap-Up.com has learned. “I just feel like ‘XXXO’—it is what it is,” she told Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1. “It’s kinda [about]being disconnected in L.A. and not having cell phone service or just not being able to kinda leave there for 18 months.” While she does not appear in her controversial video for “Born Free,” which has been banned from YouTube, she will soon go in front of the lens to shoot the visuals for “XXXO” with famed director Hype Williams. M.I.A. had everyone looking up when a blimp flew overhead Jay-Z’s set at Coachella to announce her June 29th album release date. Should be hearing 'XXXO' pretty soon then! :o
May 7, 201015 yr M.I.A. style  In other news, i absolutely adore 'Born Free' now. The second song from her that i love. And OMG! Amazing video! It's good that there was so much violence, hatred and fear though. Especially with these lyrics in the background. The message is simple. Love it.
