May 4, 201213 yr New trailer: Fqd-9Jl6KXY This looks like it's going to crap all over the previous 'Spiderman' films! I think it looks more "adult" and darker than them too. Incredibly excited for this now.
May 4, 201213 yr http://www.dingsme.info/avatar10.jpgThat means no Malkovich, no Vulture, no Vulturess, and no more Kirsten Dunst. Edited May 4, 201213 yr by klaiche001
May 4, 201213 yr A high school "more adult"? Nah! It can't be, yet that trailer suggests otherwise. Not quite the train wreck I was expecting, may give it a go, but will probably wait for the DVD/Blu release at Xmas.
July 4, 201212 yr Got back from watching this like an hour or so ago... It was excellent. Obviously wasn't up to the standard of 'The Avengers', but it's easily the 2nd best film of the year so far. Genuinely gutted about the hype surrounding this though. I get the feeling it'll be a grower and eventually be big via word of mouth, but the promotional campaign for it has been awful. It worked so much better in this style I think. Rhys Ifans was brilliant in his role! It was a very nice re boot to the franchise and I'll be looking forward to and hoping that they bring Andrew Garfield in to the Avengers. (If they were/are thinking of bringing Spiderman into it at some point.)

(If they were/are thinking of bringing Spiderman into it at some point.) he won't be in Avengers, completely different film studio making them. that and spidey isn't a traditional avenger. i haven't seen this yet, not even sure if i want to, i don't want to be closeminded if i do go and see it but this film is just unnecessary and from what i heard that is no peter parker, i'm sorry but any film that f***s with the key characteristics of their main character are morons. also people criticising this for having more drama than action can also suck a f*** and maybe pick up a spider-man comic.
July 5, 201212 yr Since I'm a comic book fan, I went to go and see this, I wasn't that impressed to be honest I prefer the Tobey MacGuire trilogy, the movie is just centred about Peter's family and will be ongoing in the next sequel, I think I know where its heading in the sequel, with the return of the Green Goblin well not exactly return more like re-introduced. The end of the film fight sequence just ended too quickly, if you are spiderman fan I recommend to stick with the originals.
July 5, 201212 yr I've not read the comics but I've heard from a few people that this sticks to the comics (obviously I can't say whether it does or not). I definitely prefer it to the pretty weak and diluted (in comparison) Toby Maguire trilogy's anyway. I think you should give this a go Chris. You might surprise yourself and actually enjoy it. :P
July 5, 201212 yr This > the Tobey trilogy combined That may or may not have about 50% to do with the fact Andrew Garfield is one of the most gorgeous men alive. However, being serious, I absolutely loved it. A few bits didn't quite ring true for me, the 'humour' was terribly misplaced and the web swinging looked crap (imo) but it was much more compelling than any of the original 3 and for the most part acted much better too. I don't care if Andrew is less typical Spiderman than Tobey or whatever silly things I've been reading of that nature, for me it felt like a much better rendition of the story and a much more enjoyable and rewarding film to watch. The scene after he gets shot and runs along the roof trying to get the cranes made me cry a little, I'm going to blame the James 'lay on the emotion with a DUMP TRUCK' Horner soundtrack.
July 5, 201212 yr For me, this wasn't the best Spider-man film (hello 2), but Andy was easily a better Spider-man than Tobey Maguire. He really sold the humour (as odd as it often was) and the drama, and his chemistry with Emma Stone ( forever) was electric. Shame they went so hard on the helpful community cliché near the end, but I went in excited for Andy and Emma and they more than delivered.
July 5, 201212 yr Saw this today. LOVED IT!. Andrew Garfield was much better than Tobey Maguire. Definetly prefered this to all the other ones! and Sally Field great as always! :D
July 8, 201212 yr Author Yeah so I saw it yesterday. it was average. made very little impact on me to be honest, I wouldn't say I disliked it but I wouldn't particularly care about seeing it again. Felt very rushed, thought Emma Stone was f***ing terrible. The story structure needed work. I reckon if they aimed for summer 2013 it would have not only been a better film but would do better at box office (not being against batman and avengers). My main thought throughout the film was that i can't f***ing wait for Dark Knight Rises. The action scenes were well done though in my opinion, maybe the final fight was a bit anti-climatic though, the school fight was amazing though. Not a patch on Spider-man 2 (or 1 for that matter, probably better than 3 but let's face it that is not a hard achievement). Edited July 8, 201212 yr by Chris.
July 8, 201212 yr I'm a little gutted Marc Webb followed up (500) Days Of Summer with this. It left little impression on me, sadly. Being an obvious retread didn't bother me, it just felt generic, uninspired and lacked personality. OH WELL.

July 15, 201212 yr franchise reboot?? really aside from blade, i thought toby M's 1st spiderman was one of the best comic adaptations! the other movies weren't so good, but he was a good peter parker. more eveidence hollywood messes up every good, comic and book for quick bucks!! how many before they get it right??
July 30, 201311 yr This film was a fairly pointless exercise. Yes I have only just seen it but there are so many things wrong with it, from the utter miscasting of Sally Field to the pointless misconsistencies from mainstream Spidey continuity. (How easy was it for people to pull his bloody mask off?) All seemingly just to make things different from the first three movies. And the first 3 films are all better than this. Fukkin Sony fukkwits. And what were Marvel playing at saying yes to this.
July 30, 201311 yr Sally Fields is a great actress but she just isn't Aunt May. She's way too young looking for a start! Aunt May should be continually knocking at death's door. I wish she'd actually passed on in the comics then you wouldn't have the travesty of the Mephisto choice in the comics continuity.
August 8, 201311 yr I watched this not long ago. I was very hesitant because I thought rebooting so soon was ridiculous. I was mostly right. The new spiderman was a bit of a jerk at times and only the second half of the film was any good. The first half repeated the origins of spiderman already done so much better in the original so felt pointless and tiring.
