I know the cover version wasn't retro, but the original was and I didn't realise Gabriella Cilmi's 'Warm This Winter' was a cover of Connie Francis' 1962 hit, until quite recently (thanks to the BJSC :heehee:) I always thought it was an original by Gabriella.

 

'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia. Never realised it was a cover until a good year or so later when I saw something on MTV at the time.

I knew about this one. Klaatu released an album in 1976, with no credits, it sounded similar to Sgt Peppers style, and a rumour grew that it was the Beatles reformed under an assumed name. Partly because on Ringo's album Goodnight Vienna he is portrayed as Klaatu from the film "The day the earth stood still" and the album includes the phrase "Don't forget - Klaatu Barada Nikto". :lol:

True. There is a dodgy quality version of him doing BTN from the (i think) Darkness... sessions but he couldn't get it to work so he gave it to her, she reworked it and then he took her version and has toured with it since then.

 

Same thing happened with Fire which he intended for Elvis to sing but then he died so Robert Gordon got it. The Pointer Sisters then had a hit with it and he still plays it to this day. There's astudio version of this too with Bruce's Elvis impersonation for the vocal

Yeah, the same for me, must have been several years after it was released when I realised :lol:
