Just discovered the lead single "Tightrope" from Mark's chart and I've got to say this is great.

Yay! :D

I remember one of her songs being entered into BJSC (which I'm assuming was off her first album as it was a while ago now?) and I didn't really like it, thought it being really overrated. But I downloaded 'Tightrope' and it's fantastic, I've not heard anything else but I've just downloaded her album tonight.

A bit 2000 and late, but I finally heard this album yesterday

It's just amazing  One of the best of the year, every song by itself is great - and obviously they work amazingly together.

Tyron entered Many Moons from the first suite.

Many Moons is just  too.

The album is amazing, up there with Erykah Badu as soul/r&b music I can really get into.

This is basically why she's great. It's probably because she's a black female (for some reason, it's all I need to know I'll enjoy a song) but this is one of those critically acclaimed albums I can really get into. I'm not gonna lie, I did find even this hard to access until about the fifth or sixth listen (and seeing her live) but it's wonderful now it has.

I think the songs I enjoy the most are 'songs' that are actually more than one song. VSHH/Many Moons and Dance Or Die/Faster/Locked Inside are probably the ones I enjoy listening to. "Tightrope" is also amazing, but I think I'm venturing towards overplaying it. :(

Going to get round to listening to the album eventually. Adoring Tightrope at the moment, one of those songs that did nothing for me on first listen but now I dont understand why I didnt love it instantly.

Amazing video, I hope she's still planning on making videos for all the tracks <3

I heard Cold War on the radio today. I thought it was pretty boring, lyrics aside. Sounded very MOR.
Love this album now  Dance or Die, Tightrope, Come Alive, Cold War and Neon Gumbo in particular is superb.
I love this song but wtf is that video, just 1 take? seriously?
um, yeah seriously and it's beautiful?

Sure it was cute for about 10 seconds when she cried but the rest is boring.

Yes, its the best/second best album of the year - depending on your stance on harp led songs about abortion.

Controversial opinion - Tightrope is the worst song on the album.

Oh go on, I'll have my contraversial opinion then:

This album is overrated. I like it, but don't see how it is anywhere near the best of the year.

^^ Hush, this album is not overrated. It's underrated. It's the best album of the year and more.

(of course, this is only my modest opinion).

That's true, I agree. Tightrope is the worst on the album. It was the first song of the album I heard so I almost didn't even bother.

"In terms of a percentage sales increase, Amazon said that US soul singer Janelle Monae saw the biggest benefit of appearing at Glastonbury, with a 4,928% sales uplift for her album The ArchAndroid following her performance over the weekend." (Via Music Week)

Oh god yes.

Her set transcended the sublime. Shame there was no 'Many Moons' but still out of this world. Her crowd was massive too.

She just needs a BOOST UP and she'll be HUGE (or so I think)

Not going to lie- Didn't get the fuss about Janelle Monáe at all...

Until Glastonbury.

She was fantastic, and probably the highlight of the weekend for me. 'Tightrope' was fantastiiic.
