February 18, 201015 yr Agreed.. I don't understand the hate for them and surely everyone knew they would win at least 1 award so I don't understand the suprised comments now.. It was always going to be between them or Cheryl and imo neither of them deserved to win Best Single.. I'm a JLS fan but not really a fan of Beat Again.. but still happy for them.. Would have gone for Lily Allen - the fear or La Roux - in for the kill sick and tired of pre-packaged boybands created by cowell and or walsh.. try that. god they are odious enough let alone they arnt interested in music as an art form, but to them its all about making money, exploiting kids... its arseholes like them that have suffocated music .

Really? I think the music means much more to them than the likes of Alexandra Burke and Cheryl Cole (who is SO interested in music she said that "anyone who sees their favourite band more than five times has something missing in their life" which basically proved she wasn't much of a music fan) They weren't put together by the X Factor or a record company and as I said at least they've got some kids interested in music and are BY FAR the best X Factor act imo, the only thing I've actually bought from it. Something about them has captured the public's imagination which hasn't been done with a boyband for quite some time and plus they can actually perform live.

February 19, 201015 yr I think Grandywicky meant that music means more to Cowell and Walsh. Norma eh?... thats not how i read it, wicky is refering to jls, not cowell and walsh.. i really dont think wicky would support cowell and walsh.

Although I think he could have re-phrased or re-worded some of it. Either way ... I agree ... JLS are for me, one of the better acts to come out of the X-Factor ... their success being even more sweet in that they didn't win the show. It also looks like they could be on their way to a tad more success in the States than Alexandra Burke. Norma Edited February 19, 201015 yr by Norma_Snockers
February 19, 201015 yr tbh id agree, but its still a case of which pile of manure do you prefer... objectively 'beat again' was a fair enough track but this new one is bloody dire, and is the sort of level i expect from them.. however ive been wrong before, 20 odd years ago id never have thought id respect take that and robbie.. not that im a fan or owt, but some of their material has been good pop.

I don't think JLS will have the longevity of Rob or Take That ... or Westlife or Boyzone for that matter ... but they offer up pretty inoffensive, synthetic R&B music and I do think they'll have mild success in the States. Short shelf-life but will be pretty famous while it lasts ... good on them I say. Like you though ... I'm only going on Beat Again (the other two singles are a bit pants really). Norma
February 20, 201015 yr Did anyone watch the (terrible) ITV extra programme on the BRITs on Friday night with Peter Andre doing the interviews. The lowlight was the clip when Peter was interviewing Lady GaGa and then Cheryl Cole and her entourage came into view and he basically cut off interviewing Lady GaGa to speak to "The Nation's Sweetheart" Cheryl. I thought that said everything about the British tabloids obsession with her. Although maybe Peter was scared that if he did not do that her PR Max Clifford could help out Katie Price!
February 20, 201015 yr Finally watched the Brits last night (taped it). Loved Lady Gaga, underneath it all she seems so genuine, and though I'd have liked to have seen her do something like Poker Face or Bad Romance, I still really enjoyed her performance, its the first time l liked Telephone and the first time I've heard her purely sing without a massive display. Jay-Z/Alicia Keys were absolutely brilliant as always. Gutted Alicia wasn't even nominated but then her album was released quite late last year so it probably missed the cut-off point. Hopefully she'll do well next year. After hearing mixed reviews I can finally say I'm in the love camp for Florence/Dizzee, I thought it was really good! Kasabian were good too and I think JLS did well. Thought Robbie was good but some of his song choices were odd. I'd have liked Eternity but at least he did No Regrets. Cheryl was abysmal. If you can't even dance well, you shouldn't use it as an excuse to mime badly. If anything, P!nk has just set the live performance standard at the grammys so Cheryl just looks rubbish now. Lily was fantastic as well but why was she seated so far away, it took her years to get her award! I thought Peter Kay did a really good job, I was laughing a lot at his jokes. They seemed to fall flat there. Perhaps they should have gotten one of those over-noisy X-Factor audiences in. I was getting quite sick of the Spice Girls early on, particularly Geri. And the less said about Liam Gallagher and Jonathan Ross the better. Feel bad Paolo didn't win anything, athough I do think Dizzee and Florence deserved their awards. I don't really think JLS deserved theirs considering the other acts nominated. Congrats to Gaga well deserved but I wish BEPs could have had a look in since last year they were massive. Why the international group gong has disappeared, I have no idea. Poor Ellie Goulding, she looked so uncomfortable! Oh and I thought Mika's promotion of Helping Haiti was slightly shameless. Its already selling bucketloads and helping out despite being shockingly bad and I do think some of the other Haiti singles should have gotten the same mention. Oh, but I forgot, Mika isn't on those ones.

How unbelievably RUDE of him.... -_- Is it any wonder Ga Ga cops an attitude with British TV and interviewers...? I mean she only won THREE Brits and has a multi-platinum-selling, world-wide hit album that's all.... It's a BIT like cutting off David Bowie, Iggy Pop or Lou Reed to go and interview the bloody Bay City Rollers or Donnie Osmond really innit...?

Spot on Rob... JLS are just another in a long-line of pre-packaged crap that's killing British music.... Put it this way, did Take That need something like X-Factor - NO; did East 17 need something like X-Factor - NO; did Duran Duran need something like X-Factor - NO...
February 24, 201015 yr Iggy Pop probably wouldn't realise if he'd been cut off mid-interview. Yeah, right, let's just forget that Iggy actually pretty much leads a "straight edge" (ie, no drink, drugs or tobacco) lifestyle these days mate..... And he was pretty damn together enough to respond to a question with this comeback in 1977... I'll tell you about punk rock: punk rock is a word used by dilettantes and, heartless manipulators, about music... that takes up the energies, and the bodies, and the hearts and the souls and the time and the minds, of young men, who give what they have to it, and give everything they have to it. And it's a... it's a term that's based on contempt; it's a term that's based on fashion, style, elitism, satanism, and, everything that's rotten about rock 'n' roll. I don't know Johnny Rotten... but I'm sure, I'm sure he puts as much blood and sweat into what he does as Sigmund Freud did. You see, what, what sounds to you like a big load of trashy old noise... is in fact... the brilliant music of a genius.. And that music is so powerful, that it's quite beyond my control. And, ah... when I'm in the grips of it, I don't feel pleasure and I don't feel pain, either physically or emotionally. Do you understand what I'm talking about? Have you ever, have you ever felt like that? When you just, when you just, you couldn't feel anything, and you didn't want to either. You know, like that? Do you understand what I'm saying, sir? Yeh, let's see Cheryl fukkin' Cole or the meatheads in JLS respond to ANY question that's put to them with such eloquence and articulation..... -_-

March 1, 201015 yr yep very eloquent indeed ..... pity hes selling car insurance on tv ads now! It's not any worse than butter.....
March 2, 201015 yr It's not any worse than butter.....  actually... i dont agree! car insurance ads are awful, brokers are all sharks out to screw you should you have the audacity to try to claim, at least with butter you pays your money and consumes the product.
March 2, 201015 yr It's been the one they all want to win for quite a few years now, I always thought.Sorry for the long wait in reply :heehee: (Not that you were waiting for one obviously :heehee:) But I always, personally, had it in mind that the "Best British Male/Female Artists" were the bigger categories  But I guess that's just me personally, and can see why "Best British Album" could be classed as the biggie :P
March 12, 201015 yr brokers are all sharks out to screw you should you have the audacity to try to claim, Well, to an American that wouldn't be any different than Healthcare Insurance....LOL...
