I LOVE the song, but seriously, it didn't flop THAT hard (It flopped considering the amount of play it got from radio 1 and stuff) but it wasn't THAT BAD. Oh dear.

Re-releasing 'Don't Trust Me' really is quite ridiculous and I agree with 3OH!3 that they should release 'Follow Me Down' instead, I think it has the potential to do really well. I love it!

I'm not what you would call "typical buzzjack", but it really is dire. :( Totally unlistenable and for me the worst song of the year thus far.

Re-releasing 'Don't Trust Me' really is quite ridiculous and I agree with 3OH!3 that they should release 'Follow Me Down' instead, I think it has the potential to do really well. I love it!

 

The re-release is dead. Pre-2007 MGMT would've gone top 10 with the 'Time to Pretend' re-release after the success of Kids instead of scraping the top 40 for the 2nd time. If a song has already gone top 40, there's no real need for a re-release.

The record company certainly hasn't done it any favours though, has it? Gorillaz appeal to the more indie crowd, and therefore people will be more concerned about buying the album that getting the download. Also, the fact that it's 99p on iTunes and no cheaper than 89p on any of the other download sites is going to put them off. If like Biffy and Muse they'd put it on for 59p it would probably go top 40 with no problem.

 

Never underestimate the fickleness of the indie crowd.
