Posted March 16, 201015 yr Just been looking at the opinions from the number ones thread and was thinking that there really is nothing much out over the coming weeks. Just curious what people thought (especially as there hasn’t been a #1 prediction thread for a while). I’ve listed a few contenders for the next month or too, feel free to add any future contenders I haven’t thought of. Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone Most likely future #1 will probably be this one, if it doesn’t do it this week it should climb next week. Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song I’m not convinced by this myself but it is getting good airplay, their last album was big too. I think #1 will be out of reach for this but it could well go top 5. Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do Out in early April, could she get her first #1? I think it stands a good chance, its not like its got a lot of competition plus its already seems to be getting love from TV and radio. Professor Green - I Need You Tonight As soon as you hear it you know what the sample is but I’ve been hearing it abit on Kiss and was getting good tv airplay last week on Box breakers etc. Actually it wouldn’t surprise me if flops either. Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Out of all the songs suggested I think this could stand the best chance. Radio 1 have already playlisted it and it screams big hit. Top 3 at least for this Diana Vickers – Once Already getting decent tv airplay plus radio 1 have playlisted it (always a good sign), I’m really not sure it can reach #1 but it should go top 5 (very minimum top 10) Iyaz – Solo This could do well but it will be nowhere near as huge as Replay Train – Hey Soul Sister Call me crazy on this one but I really expect this to be big. Already a hit in the USA and likely #1 in Australia next week, radio 1 have already played it and commercial radio are gonna love it. Not convinced with #1 just yet but it does scream big hit to me (top 3?) Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Not out for a few months but it could be big Cascada – Pyromania Now when I first heard this it screamed #1 to me, however since it still doesn’t have an official date and radio 1 seem to be ignoring this so far (which seems odd considering they playlisted the last album). It’ll go top 10 I think but may not be the hit I first thought? Edward Maya – Stereo Love Now technically this isnt on the schedule yet however its already been picked up by a UK label and I can imagine this being a big summer hit. Its reached top 10 (and #1) through a lot of Europe already and radio 1 are already playing it, if it gets enough airplay this could be huge IMO (though I don’t think commercial radio would play it much) There are bound to be some surprises along the way though…
March 16, 201015 yr Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone agreed, good chance at #1 Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song No chance in hell. It will be a hit, but people have moved on a bit from this kind of music so low top10 at most. Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do Top3. But you never know on a quiet week Professor Green - I Need You Tonight Not heard. Is this R&B? If so, probaby a big hit. Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Yeah I think this has a good shot at the top Diana Vickers – Once Probably a #1 on hype alone. Iyaz – Solo Top5 but not a #1. Train – Hey Soul Sister Definitely not a #1, but if radio jump on board a top5 could be on the cards Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Top10 at the most. Alicia isn't much of a big seller Cascada – Pyromania I don't know wtf they're doing with this, music video around for ages and no release date. Will go top10 even without much radio support Edward Maya – Stereo Love If they get the release date out soon, around April, could be a top10 hit. Not a #1 though
March 16, 201015 yr Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone I think number 1 but not this week, next week Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song No, but could go top 10 Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do Havent heard about this yet, some people saying this will flo and she will turn into an album act- will have to hear this first Professor Green - I Need You Tonight More urban $h!te?- probably, not sure about number 1 Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Think this could do well, top 5 maybe Diana Vickers – Once If its getting the right promotion, she could get number 1- hope so! Iyaz – Solo No chance- top 15 Id say Train – Hey Soul Sister If Drops of jupiter could get number 10, this could get top 10/15 Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Doubt it, maybe top 10- she already has two big top 10 hits Cascada – Pyromania I havent heard this, but people saying it could be big- maybe top 10 Edward Maya – Stereo Love To early to judge
March 16, 201015 yr Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone Currently no. 3 on iTunes but not sure if 'Telephone' is going to overtake Rihanna anytime soon. As Tinie Tempah continues to decrease in sales week on week I suspect it'll either be Rihanna or indeed Lady GaGa feat. Beyonce no. 1 next week. Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song Well, I was surprised Scouting For Girls managed to achieve the success they did with their debut album. Not heard this and I'm not exactly in a rush to listen to the track. Probably top 10 followed by a fairly drop down the top 75. Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do Brilliant track coupled with a great video. Made it's impact on me after one listen. Surely a big hit beckons? Professor Green - I Need You Tonight 'Need You Tonight' by INXS is excellent imo. This is what Eminem would sound like if he sampled INXS. The rapper also has a strange tinny accent but yet I kinda like this song.  Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Not heard but as it's Chipmunk who knows. Diana Vickers – Once I'm wondering just exactly how much hype there really is surrounding Diana Vickers. Would be interesting, after all this time, if 'Once' did become a massive hit. Not heard the song if full from the clip I heard, it sounds ok. Iyaz – Solo Just because 'Replay' was a massive no. 1 doesn't mean this will be a massive follow up single. Yet to hear this song to be honest. Train – Hey Soul Sister This will follow on where Plain White T's 'Hey There Delilah' left off in 2007. I suspect this won't get to no. 1 but will hang around the UK top 40 for a few months. Most probably go top 5 maybe peaking at #4? Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Whilst I'd love to see become a big UK hit in its own right (not a #72 peak after a performance on Jonathan Ross' show) I suspect this will be lucky to go top 20. Cascada – Pyromania Only heard this the once so far and I can't rememeber how it goes. I don't see this following in the footsteps of 'Evacuate The Dancefloor'. Edward Maya – Stereo Love For me this is old news now. It's been a hit across Europe since last Autumn. Whether it becomes a hit in the UK is left to be seen. ...and perhaps a noticeable track missing from the above list: Plan B - She Said Now this I really like. Even the rapping doesn't grate on me as much as 'Stay Too Long' but that was purely because the motown inspired bit is so brilliant. Plan B's producing music in a similar vein to Amy Winehouse/Duffy but is putting his own spin on the tracks. This could benefit from a quiet week and hit no. 1 for one week.
March 16, 201015 yr Lady Gaga Telephone - this is in with a real shot of reaching no1 particularly after the release of her controversial video Kate Nash - her new song is very bland, cant see it doing well Diana Vickers - I think this will flop. cant see her making much of an impact Cascada - new single isnt as strong as evacuate the dancefloor but still quite catchy. this should go top10
March 16, 201015 yr Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone A future #1 for sure, if it doesn’t do it this week it should climb next week. Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song Top 10 for sure. It's not number one material (way too cheesy) but I love the song. Kate Nash - Do-Wah Do I don't really like this. Top 20 at best. Professor Green - I Need You Tonight This will flop. He's just another chav in the market. :puke: Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone It screams a big hit. Number 1 for sure because it's Chipmunk. Diana Vickers – Once Top 5 for sure. It's VIP Track of the week on 4 music and getting regular play on music channels. It's getting so much support from Radio 1 and other radio station. I JUST LOVE THE SONG AND DIANA GENERALLY ANYWAY  Iyaz – Solo Top 10 (Top 3 if lucky). The song is $h!t. Agreed it's not gonna huge like Replay. Train – Hey Soul Sister Number 1 for sure Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart I predict another huge top 10 hit for Alicia. I'm thinking it could peak around #7 or #8. Cascada – Pyromania Number 1 I think if radio 1 gets behind it. It's getting decent play on music channels. But there's still no release date. I'm not sure about this one yet. Edward Maya – Stereo LoveI really like this. Top 2 for sure. Also, you forgot Plan B - She Said. That song I think in the coming weeks is gonna be huge. WATCH THIS SPACE!
March 16, 201015 yr apart from 'Telephone', nothing in the near future screams #1!!! for me. but it's the UK though :heehee:, half the #1's this Year wouldn't have had such reaction from me either.
March 16, 201015 yr I think the Kate Nash song is rubbish, so that puts it as a contender for #1, the same for for Diana Vickers too. Lady GaGa+Beyonce I'd like to be #1. Not really heard the others apart from SFG and it's very similar to what they released before.
March 16, 201015 yr For the next couple of weeks; 15th Mar: Tinie Tempah - Pass Out [3rd Week] 22nd Mar: Lady GaGa & Beyoncé - Telephone [1st Week] 29th Mar: Lady GaGa & Beyoncé - Telephone [2nd Week] 05th Apr: Kate Nash - Do Wah Doo [1st Week] 12th Apr: Kate Nash - Do Wah Doo [2nd Week] 19th Apr: Chipmunk ft. Esmée Denters - Until You Were Gone [1st Week] / Diana Vickers - Once [1st Week] That's what I'm seeing atm.
March 16, 201015 yr Where the hell has all this hype for Train come from? Anyway; Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone Number 1 isn't out of the question, but i'm still convinced it's going to be one of those songs that doesn't quite make it... Scouting For Girls - This Ain't A Love Song Number 1? Nah. Top 5/10? Almost certainly. Surely? Kate Nash - Do-Wah Doo I was doubting this to be number 1, and was kinda expecting a very similar run to 'Foundations', however, I am now thinking this could be a 'My Life Would Suck Without You' sorta number 1 hit... Professor Green - I Need You Tonight LOL! Just LOL. Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone This screams a number 6 or 7 hit to me tbh. (As good as it is) Diana Vickers – Once This better be number 1. However, I think it's gonna be one of those big number 2 hits, behind an absoloutely appalling number 1! :( Iyaz – Solo Dunno. Haven't heard it so can't comment. But it's not going to be as big as 'Replay', that's for sure I think... Train – Hey Soul Sister I was doubting this would chart Top 40, however seeing as suddenly there seems to be quite big hype, maybe a Kid Rock 'All Summer Long' sorta success? Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart PLEASE GO TOP 10 AT LEAST?! :( It deserves to be number 1 now until the end of time, but it's not going to. This will either be a 'Remedy' type top 10 hit, or just an average top 20 performer :( Cascada – Pyromania Depending on support, and video play etc... this has a huge chance to become their second number 1! Edward Maya – Stereo Love Not sure i've heard this. Well I can't remember it, so can't make a big judgement just yet i'm afraid.
March 16, 201015 yr Anybody else think that Alex Gardner and Jay-Z could be serious contenders? Jay-Z's new video is amazing, creepy creative.
March 17, 201015 yr Jay-Z's is the fourth off of his album, so no. It'll be lucky to make Top 40. Alex Gardner doesn't seem to have much hype either, probably a Top 20 at best.
March 17, 201015 yr Anybody else think that Alex Gardner and Jay-Z could be serious contenders? Jay-Z's new video is amazing, creepy creative. I would like to see "On To The Next One" do well but I can't see it. I'm still holding out for a PROPER rock #1 this year but I struggle to see where it will come from unless Linkin Park come back with an aboslute belter with radio support and a video to rival "What I've Done".
March 17, 201015 yr The following have a chance at no.1, the ones in bold i love as well: Lady Gaga feat Beyonce – Telephone (it'll probs overtake on I-Tunes later) Chipmunk feat Esmee Denters - Until You Were Gone Diana Vickers – Once Iyaz – Solo Train – Hey Soul Sister Ellie Goulding – Guns & Horses Alexandra Burke feat Pitbull – All Night Long Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart Cascada – Pyromania Nadine Coyle – tba (even tho we've not heard even a tiny clip, i think she'll get a number 1) woah, not much out... March 17, 201015 yr I think the three big tunes over the next few months will be: Lady GaGa & Beyonce - Telephone Train - Hey, Soul Sister Lady Antebellum - Need You Now I can see them all reaching the top 2; and staying there for quite a while.
March 17, 201015 yr I think the hype for Train is because the UK seems to lap up anything that gets the American seal of approval at the moment. I don't think it will do that well though and can only see it being a top 10 hit at best. Could be way off though. Professor Green will probably do well but not number one. Telephone will surely be number one next week barring something unexpected. I can't see Diana Vickers, Kate Nash and Scouting For Girls being number one, though I guess Diana could sneak in if it was really quiet. What about Christina Aguilera? Thought she was supposed to be releasing soon. So, in short, I have no idea, haha. Think we could have a few surprising number ones over the next couple of months. Very little jumps out to me.
March 17, 201015 yr GaGa = certain #1, next week if not this week. SFG = top 10 at a push. Kate Nash = top 3, but it NEEDS to be #1 if only to make up for Foundations missing out by such a small amount. Pro Green = at least top 5. Chipmunk = at least top 3. DiVi = top 5. Iyaz = top 20. Train = top 10 at a BIG push. AK = top 20, but it deserves #1  Cascada = top 15. Edward Maya = Eva Simons esque flop I predict. EDIT: Tacticz actually made a VALID POINT! :o Yeah, you missed out Plan B - I can seriously see that being a #1. Edited March 17, 201015 yr by BrayFish Derülo
