Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) // #02 (2002)

Shoat will be disappointed! :heehee: Cheeky Girls are the highest novelty act to appear on the countdown, so erm, well done to them I guess. They didn't even make the semi finals and were purely known from their audition when they sang their biggest hit 'Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)' which was written by their mother LOL! They had four consecutive Top 10 hits including 'Take Your Shoes Off' and '(Hooray, Hooray!) It's A Cheeky Holiday'. Their album even managed to reach #14 in the UK and was certified Silver here. Their sophomore album however failed to chart and the lead single, 'Cheeky Flamenco' only going #29. They have now auditioned for Britain's Got Talent where they got through to the next round apparently!

I liked David Cook - he did a brilliant rocky version of Mariah's Always Be My Baby on American Idol that even made my personal chart I liked it so much :heehee:

= 36 // David Archuleta (American Idol: Series 7) // 3.40

Crush // #02 US (2008)

David Archuleta came 2nd in the seventh series of American Idol. He has done fairly well since then scoring a massive #02 hit in the US and his album also going #02 in the US ... I think both were released in the UK but failed to chart, unsurprisingly as he was given little, if no promotion here. I wasn't the biggest fan of him during his series, I found him too ... sweet? LOL. I do love 'Crush' though!

Damaged // #10 US (2008)

I LOVE them. Both their albums were pretty good and 'Damaged' and 'Bad Girl' are amazing. They were the winners of the third series of Making The Band and were a huge hit in the US scoring two #01 albums and two Top 10 singles with 'Showstopper' and 'Damaged'. I think like David, they tried to release 'Showstopper' and their debut in the UK but both got very, very little promotion so they failed to chart which is a shame coz I think they could've been huge here! I think they have now split up and no longer going on though ... shame. :(

34 // Rhydian Roberts (X Factor - Series 4) // 3.42

O Fortuna (2009)

Rhydian came 2nd in the fourth series of X Factor where he lost to Leon Jackson. Although I pretty much hated him during his time on X Factor, I think he should have won over Leon given he's had a much better career with his debut album going #03 over here and selling over 600,000 copies worldwide which I don't think Leon's debut even sold in total in the UK.

Blink // #12 (2002)

I absolutely LOVED her during her time on Pop Idol and 'Blink' and 'A Little Bit' are great pop/RnB songs imo. She came 6th in her series and managed to score two Top 20 hits with 'Blink' and 'A Little Bit' and an album and further singles were planned but got cancelled sadly due to 'lack of interest'. :( She has since auditioned for Australian Idol which she only made the Top 24 sadly. Bless her. :(

Download It // #21 (2003)

Clea were made up from the girls who did not make Girls Aloud (well except Javine, of course). They never really hit it off with their highest peaking single being 'Download It' which hit the dizzy heights of #21 in the UK. They did manage to get two further Top 40 hits with 'Stuck In The Middle' and 'We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off' though. Since flopping fairly badly, Emma & Aimee tried their luck as a duo in the form of LoveShy where they auditioned for Eurovision but got nowhere, they then got dropped. Emma still seeked attention as she appeared on Paris Hilton's British Best Friend in which she came 3rd.

Clea are awful. There's a reason they didn't make Girls Aloud -_-

I did rather like LoveShy's Eurovision entry though. :(

Colourblind // #01 (2002)

Darius came 3rd in the first series of Pop Idol, but was also discovered in the first series of Popstars in which he didn't even make it past the auditions where he infamously sang Britney Spears' ''Baby One More Time''. He also recently won ITV's ''Popstar to Operastar'' too. Since he came out of Pop Idol he released two albums, the first going platinum in the UK and selling over 300,000 copies. He also managed to score a fairly impressive five Top 10 singles in the UK, including his debut single, 'Colourblind' which went straight to #01. He has also now featured in broadway productions of 'Chicago', 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Gone With The Wind'. He is now currently recording and writing his third studio album in Los Angeles.

30 - 21 coming tomorrow! :D

Darius is a weird bloke. He was a real joke on Popstars, however he actually had a couple of fairly decent singles!
I liked Clea - I own a couple of their singles in fact  was never a fan of Darius, although Colourblind and that odd pop song he came back with in 2004 with the 'ba ba ba ba ba' female vocals on it were alright
46 // Ainslie Henderson (Fame Academy - Series One) // 2.46

Keep Me A Secret // #05 (2003)

Another Fame Academy contestant, was initially one of the favourites to win but came 4th. He had a Top 5 hit single with 'Keep Me A Secret' in the start of 2003 but then didn't even bother to release any other material! He was alright, but like Alistair just a bit boring.

I forgot to do this rate. I would have given him a high mark based on one fantastic single. One of the best of the 00s.

Totally agree. Ainslie and Lemar were easily the best two contestants on Fame Academy. Sadly the Grate British public voted for the Scottish nobody.

"and it's all a little bit of history repeating" Shirley Bassey.

Winner of X Factor 2007?

When will the public learn? -_-

Im so glad the Darius loons didnt invade this thread and that he still finished relatively low down. Colour Blind was allright but he was nout special.

Clea were a girlband and in my eyes this makes them amazing or something. Nah but Download It was brilliant though.

DANITY KANE above THE CHEEKY GIRLS?! What kind of poll is this?

And Rhydian beaten by Rosie Ribbons? FFS Buzzjack.

Palladio // #39 (2009)

Escala are a violin group who reached the final of the second series of Britain's Got Talent. They are very talented but I wouldn't listen to them out of choice really. Since reaching the final they scored a Top 40 hit with 'Palladio' and a #02 album with their debut 'Escala' which has now been certified gold.

He's adored up here, i can't stand the f***er. He was last on the bill for the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party in Glasgow in 2002 and me my mum an my sister left as he was introduced along with quite a few others. The deaf stayed behind to delusionally loon.

Darius has a fine bass baritone voice. The 'deaf' imo are those who have bought into Cheryl Cole's poor autotuned efforts. The sooner she gets to hide again behind GA the better.

All This Time // #01 (2004)

Quite how she made it this high is beyond me. She was alright I guess and let's be honest, if it wasn't for her weight she would not have won. I personally think Suzanne should've won that series but hey ho! Since winning the second series of Pop Idol she had a huge #01 with her winning single 'All This Time' and her album 'The Meaning Of Love' going Top 3 in the UK and selling over 250,000 copies. Her second single 'The Meaning Of Love' bombed in at #16. She now appears as a guest host of the Scottish TV show, 'The Hour' as well as co-hosting the BBC Scottish Radio show 'Let's Do The Show Right Here'. What a thrilling career that must be.

Maybe That's What It Takes // #03 (2003)

Oh bless her, I did quite like her during her time on Fame Academy. She didn't have the best start to a career with being the first UK Reality TV winner (well musical kind) to not score #01 with her debut single. Follow up singles bombed, but surprisingly her album did alright, getting Top 5 in the UK and has been certified 2x platinum with over 600,000 copies! Who'd have known! Wiki has nothing on what she's doing now ... I'm guessing hiding away.
