Quite clear who is winning the younger vote.

If you're really going to trust the Daily Mail's word, then there's little hope for you. Alternatively, you could actually read the original Guardian article for yourself and see what Clegg was actually saying.

Nope. I read it from Reuters. ^_^

Well a Facebook poll this year of 15-24 years regarded Cheryl Cole as their greatest inspiration. With Simon Cowell 2nd; and Katie Price 3rd.

Proof that satirist/writer Charlie Brooker's analogy comparing Clegg to Cole is very valid. Both look great; both are very popular with the public; and both are completely vapid and lacking in substance.

Whore face Cole and politics aren't comparable.

Nick Clegg is speaking to the younger generation more than the other parties. That is a fact.

Students got the SNP into power in Scotland. Don't dismiss younger people. We may not have experienced as much as you but as can be seen in a tiny $h!tty country like Scotland we make an election.

I think your key sentence about students getting the SNP into power in Scotland sums things up perfectly.

The sad thing is I used to like the Liberal Democrats, but since Paddy Ashdown stood down as leader the party as veered rapidly towards the left.

But allowing unlimited immigration into the UK; and defence policies that are out of date as the CND???? please don't insult my intelligence.

I've followed politics for nearly 25 years and I've voted in every election since I've been eligible to vote. There is a very good reason why the LibDems have never got into power; with the first past the post system the big two parties have done what they have always done in my adult lifetime, they've nicked all LibDems good policies; leaving them with their lunatic and impractical policies.

And despite these two 'lunatic and impractical' policies, Cameron and Brown once again can't actually beat Clegg in the debate, if they did it was by a small percentage. I think Clegg should've been trounced tonight, but yet again the complete ineptitude of both Brown and Cameron means he wasn't. At least Clegg actually answered all the questions, so often the other two just waffled on about something which wasn't to the point.

imho the rise in support for the lib dems will only rob the tories of votes. the tv debate has boosted the lib dems and show boy cameron up for the uncious weasel he is. few people believe the boy wonder, i still dont think theyll win.

This is precisely my thoughts and predictions for this years election. Joe Bloggs knows little, if not nothing, about politics and will therefore make their judgement on personality. Cameron is slick but comes accross unsincere and smarmy and this is why I dont think the Conservatives will get into number 10, not to mention the legacy of the tory party.

We are looking at a hung parliament no doubt for this election, with Libs making the most gains on the last election.

I thought Brown actually did pretty well there - even Cameron was forced to side with him at one point, it'll be interesting to see what Craig says about that. The more I see, the more I think Clegg is a Good Thing even if I agree more with Gordon's policies - GB has been trying for three years to show Cameron up as a smarmy PR man and it hasn't worked because he can't deliver a string of sentences to a camera. It's taken someone equally slick but importantly away from the main two parties to show up the Tory leader and if BBC News is to be believed (all three parties stand at 30%) this is a big coup for Labour but moreso the centre left movement as a whole.

I was going to give Brown credit until he pulled that stunt about the pensioners and saying that the scare tactics were not something he authorised, then Alex Salmond came on just after the debate and showed that Brown had been using the very same leaflet in his OWN constituency so if he was using it in his own one he very much authorised it and was in on it, he was exposed as a liar and any respect I had for him during the debate where I thought he put in a reasonable performance was lost, a would be PM should not insult the intelligence of voters by lying

But Cameron has claimed to have met a 40 year old man who served in the Navy for 30 years. He has talked about his mother telling him about the Newbury bypass protests when he was a child even though he was 30 at the time. He lied tonight about the way decisions are made in the EU. Or are you going to say these lies don't count?

I LOL'd so hard at that. Cuntface showed him up, that takes some doing

Guardian/ICM poll has Clegg winning the debate on 33%, with Cameron and Brown both on 29%. Only 18% of people changed their voting intentions after this debate (compared to 35% last week), although of that 18%, 43% have switched to the Lib Dems.

Overall, I think we can say that the most likely outcome in the opinion polls over the next few days is that the Lib Dems will hold their gains from the last week, but probably won't "bounce" much higher. Smart money's still on a Labour-Lib Dem agreement or coalition imo.

i dont think ive ever seen the lib dems (or former liberals) having so much power or popularity. yes they have been promising in the past but came nowhere near to their popularity now.

Free prescriptions for all from Tories is fine by me. I've had to pay for them since my wife started working part-time and they cost me a bomb.

They've certainly never had a period like this in an election campaign. The Liberal / SDP Alliance was on 50% in the polls for a brief period in the early 80s before the Falklands changed everything.

Adam Boulton broke one of the main rules last night. Did anyone notice he asked Clegg his own question, with a smirk on his face, "I see you're on the front page of the Telegraph today" The BBC said he should in trouble for that as the moderator isn't allowed to ask any question of his own to one man only. Clegg hasn't complained, probably as it would just give the whole saga even more print lines. Boulton was even worse than Alistair Stewart and that's saying something. Dimbleby and the BBC should be far better.
