April 5, 201015 yr MEH! Never got the fuss with Eddie in all honesty. I thought he was crap tbh. Yeah it's sad he died the way he did and at such a young age, but it annoyed me how everyone thought he was "amazing" when he died, but didn't care as much for when he was here.
April 5, 201015 yr Oh Jon, Eddie was adored long before WWE. Amoung the "smarks", he was widely considered one of the best workers of our generation. From his work in AAA, Japan as Black Tiger, WCW and then WWE, he (along with Chris Benoit) created quite an "elitist" following. Rightfully so, as he was a magnificent storyteller. His match v. JBL from Judgment Day 04 will remain one of the best WWE style matches of the 00's. Epic story told by Eddie, fighting the odds against the much more powerful JBL, only to lose via DQ as his emotion got the better of him. Plus, Eddie "hulking up" after cutting an amazing bladejob was just awesome to watch. Seriously, his WWE run was pretty strong. It's a shame he's not in the top 10. He totally won over the casual audience too, I mean, watch his win over Lesnar at No Way Out 04 (which was another amazing David v. Golliath match) and hear the pop. He got over naturally after he started the whole "cheat to win" shtick. I seriously can't believe I missed voting in this. SMDH.

I didn't know about Smarks/Marks until about 3 year ago (when I was usuing the internet constantly ) so I didn't realise he was all that popular tbh. 2002-2004 was a pretty meh era for me as I didn't watch WWE as much as I did previously. I'd caught little bits now and again, but when it involved people I didn't like/know I didn't take notice tbh. I think, I should watch more Eddie matches tbh. Because he seems like someone who I never got, but would appreciate alot more now i'm older and like "the baddies" and stuff :heehee:

I thought he was good at first but not brilliant but he later became a very estabilished wrestler IMO. Just a fun and brilliant wrestler all round :D

If you don't connect with someone, it doesn't mean you're wrong, you know? Kurt Angle is a guy who never impressed me greatly. Everything was so contrived with his work, so it saddens me to see Eddie & Benoit list below him. It's funny, WWE would promote Angle as the "best pure wrestler" but he was actually best suited when he was working WWE style "sports entertainment" matches (i.e. v. The Rock No Way Out 2001, v. Rey Mysterio Summerslam 2002). Benoit & Eddie knew how to work the mat better than Angle, it's just unfortunate that WWE manipulated the audience into believing Kurt was the best. That's not to discredit Anle because his body of work during his WWE tenure is strong.
April 8, 201015 yr This should be done AGAIN as I want to vote. :( My order of the top 6 would be 1. Taker. 2. Orton. 3. Kane. 4. HBK. 5. J. Hardy. 6. Y2J.
