haha, a draw so far! I love how opinion is always nicely split down the middle in BJSC if there are two options! No wonder we can never agree on anything/rarely have a runaway winners!

Scrap the semis I say!

 

I don't see the logic in the argument saying one big final is more work. Actually, the second chance one is more hassle. Like Rich said, one big final means you've only got to take in another 5-10 songs in (15 at maximum, if we're limiting it to 50) an extra week! A 40-50 final may seem daunting, but we usually take in at least 35 a contest anyway. You could always make it more manageable for yourself. Listen to 25 songs one week, make a note of your rankings, listen to the next 25 in the second week and compare scores at the end.

 

This second chance thing, on the other hand, adds another round of voting to stop a few unlucky people complaining and upsetting the ones that would have normally made it. Plus, if voting in it is optional, it possibly makes it more unreliable than the initial voting from each semi.

If it becomes one big final as a permanent thing, I'm not taking part. It'll just be boring - and I'm only taking part in this for the fun of it.

 

Plus, I'm REALLY starting to love this Second Chance idea, after initially hating it. That sounds quite fun. So, I voted Second Chance.

The first option just seems dumb imo - you're gonna have to listen to all the songs either way, so I don't see why anyone would prefer the hassle of having to vote for the semi, then for the 2nd chance, and then the final, when you can just have all the songs in the final with more points to spread around. Having everyone is the final eliminates the whole "I was in the wrong semi" complaints too.

I'd still be willing to take part with one big final, but I do think having to go through a semi-final is part of the fun. If I came last in a smaller final, I'd think "at least I qualified", but if I came last in a bigger final, I'd just be upset and thinking "now I heard worse songs than my own".

 

EDIT: Oh, and I think I'd be less upset not qualifying than coming last in a big final

Well admittedly the "fun" aspect is a better argument than the whole "too many songs to listen to" complaints - but having to vote 3 times almost seems like too much work for a single contest, it can also drag the fun out of it imo.

Boring to have to listen to five more songs? I can understand the fun of semi-finals, but I don't see how not having them can ruin the contest? :unsure:

Actually i'm warming up to both ideas, having previously wanted only the big final... The prospect of possible DNQ'ing does indeed add excitement etc but at the same time it'd get boring for people who usually don't send BJSC-friendly songs and usually DNQ... With these people's help Aaron still holds 100% Q record

I haven't DNQ'd since VIII ^_^ And I don't particuarlly care about DNQing anyway haha, I find the Semi part more fun.

That is why you have to DNQ and realise again how it's not really 'fun' to not participate in the final.

 

This is totally a "fun as we're ALL in the final" vs. "fun about DNQ'ing/Q'ing" situationwhere both variants are correct :(

I'm not a fan of the big final, and not just because of listening 40-50 songs, I don't mind that at all. I want second chance more because it will keep the contest active and entertainment during the whole month instead of boring 2 week voting period...and not to add that I'm totally against voting for 15 songs or the system of 24 points...it will look ridiculous because of the song that you like and it's 14th in a row gets only 2 votes while the one that you place 1st gets 24 :o...12 times more....I don't want a winner with 600 points and the second place with only 250 points...totally disaster and party killer for the final.

Then that's just their problem, isn't it? We can't be making big changes such as these because someone refuses to send 'good' songs over and over again -_-
