However, The Satudays take the lead with most recent hits in the last 3 years (4/4) whilst Girls Aloud share 2/6 of this. The Saturdays lowest charting (#22) and selling (85k) single 'Work' (2009) stands at #24 in the countdown beating off 4 Top 10 Girls Aloud sinlges, 'Wake Me Up', 'See The Day', 'Long Hot Summer' and 'Whole Lotta History' which were released around the 2005-2006 period. Girls Aloud sales figures are from 2009, with some corrections made from the MTV 'Girls Aloud Top 20 Singles' Countdown which was broadcast today. The Satudays sales figures are from 2010. April 24, 201015 yr I think If This Is Love and Work are much nearer the 100k mark now, ITIL has gone passed it and I think Work will in the next couple months or so.
April 24, 201015 yr WOW. Looking at that is really impressive for The Saturdays. I had no idea Up had outsold songs liked Something Kinda Oooh let alone Issues and Just Cant Get Enough. Obviously there are reasons behind songs like Forever Is Over outselling No Good Advice and Untouchable - the early years of GA's career being a low period for music sales and the later singles having been relesead after albums which had sold very well but we should just forget all of this and use it as a reason to declare The Sat's amazingness imo.
April 24, 201015 yr 'The Promise' was from 2008... Anyway, I'm surprised/pleased to see Girls Aloud have 6 songs over 200k and The Saturdays having 4 singles in just over 2 years sell 200k!
April 24, 201015 yr Didn't know Up had sold that much! they've done quite well considering they've only been around for 2 years.
April 24, 201015 yr Author One thing this list point out is the fact that you don't need a high chart position to gain the amazing sales, look at 'Ego' (peak of #9) with over 260k sales, compared to 'Something Kinda Ooooh' (peak of #3) with 230k sales. I think If This Is Love and Work are much nearer the 100k mark now, ITIL has gone passed it and I think Work will in the next couple months or so. 'Work' has most deffinately out-sold 'If This Is Love'. I remember Rochelle confirming it on a radio station a while back near the 'Forever Is Over' release. Edited April 24, 201015 yr by olm-remix

TBF i would be supprised if GA didnt have more in the top 10 overall than the sats, as they have relased about 3 times as many singles as them.
April 25, 201015 yr Considering 'Sound of the Underground' was off the back of a reality TV show, and 'The Promise' was at the beginning of Cheryl Cole's explosion in popularity (plus an XF performance) it's amazing to see 'Up' at the top. :D How much have GA's albums sold? The chart runs for their first few albums looks awful. Edited April 25, 201015 yr by shadow2009

The chart runs for their first few albums looks awful. I comlpetely agree with you there, 'Sound of the Underground', 'The Promise' and 'Call The Shots' which were all promoted on Reality TV shows have made the Top 5 most-sold singles, yet 'Up' was given the basic promo and got to #3, that's prety impressive! All of GA's albums have sold over the 300k mark. 'Tangled Up' over 400k nearly 500k i think, and 'Out of Control' 700k i think. Their Greatest Hits album has sold well over 1m!
April 25, 201015 yr If anything, all this shows is how much sales have changed and become alot more stronger and healthier now than back in the appalling sales days of 2005/6. Still interesting to read though.

May 22, 201015 yr I don't think this is necessarily fair to judge - it's been a year since we got any exact sales (especially for GA) so I'd say alot of the tracks could have another 5k added to their total! Edited May 22, 201015 yr by johnn
May 23, 201015 yr Author Where do you get the sales info from? :) Magority of the GA sales figures came from GirlsAloud.net, (reliable forum) and when they had the MTV countdown of best-selling GA singles. They listed the sales info there too. Sats sales figures have came from this forum.
June 10, 201015 yr Author The Saturdays v Girls Aloud - The 'First 7 Singles' Battle Girls Aloud | The Saturdays This battle shows how each of the bands singles have done well in comparisson to each other. For example 'Sound of The Underground' VS 'If This Is Love' amd 'No Good Advice' VS 'Up!'. ?? WIN-##-TITLE-PEAK-YEAR-SALES(K) GA WIN | 01 Sound of the Underground (#1 | 2002 | 624,967k) vs If This Is Love (#08 | 2008 | 107k) TS WIN | 02 No Good Advice (#02 | 2003 | 132,917k) vs Up! (#05 | 2008 | 311,000k) TS WIN | 03 Life Got Cold (#03 | 2003 | 089,678k) vs Issues (#04 | 2009 | 245,000k) TS WIN | 04 Jump (#02 | 2003 | 222,411k) vs Just Can't Get Enough (#02 | 2009 | 254,000k) TS WIN | 05 The Show (#02 | 2004 | 098,955k) vs Work (#22 | 2009 | 101,000k) GA WIN | 06 Love Machine (#02 | 2004 | 181,177k) vs Forever Is Over (#02 | 2009 | 147,798k) TS WIN | 07 I'll Stand By You (#01 | 2004 | 203,766k) Ego (#09 | 2010 | 283,600k) Who Won? Girls Aloud = 2/7 (Total Single Sales of: 1,553,871) The Saturdays = 5/7 (Total Single Sales of: 1,449,398) The Saturdays fall short of 104,473k. Although The Saturdays take a clear 5/7 lead, they loose out a total of just over 100k from their first 7-single sales. Who really wins?
June 10, 201015 yr This is a quite unfair. All of those Girls Aloud sales were physical, while The Saturdays are mostly digital, and digital downloads are thriving. On the other hand you are comparing lead singles to like 4th and 5th singles. (The Show to Work and -soon- Wake Me Up to Missing You)
June 10, 201015 yr As interesting as that is, it needs to be remembered that sales are much much higher now than what they were in 2003-2004 when GA relesead their first singles. Equally, it's not really fair to compare If This Is Love and Sound Of The Underground since GA had a huge reality show to launch themselves off of.
