May 5, 201015 yr Very close battle for the bottom end of my points, but I got my 15. 4 other songs missed out just by 1 point. Now just need to order them.
May 5, 201015 yr Yeah sometimes I don't even look at the videos either, often I just listen to the songs in the background will I'm browsing the internet. Funnily enough, that is exactly what I do when I'm running through all BJSC entries. However, this time my entry just so happens to have a video worth seeing, especially if you like masculine male bodies.
May 5, 201015 yr I wouldn't worry too much, Freeze is the only person to have ever claimed to do this from what I recall :o I never even watch the videos. I listen to the songs as a background thing. I don't have the time or the desire to watch the videos, in fact I haven't seen the music videos to half of the songs in the chart currently  I am not just a big fan of – and passionate about – the music in itself; as the lyrics, vocals, melody, sounds and instrumentation, song structure etc. But I’m also passionate about films, movie directing and music videos in particular. It’s fascinating how they choose to create the music video! And I am actually surprised at how many of you that doesn’t even bother to look at the music videos, even if you like the song and you know they have a music video for it. The music video is a made to be a part of the song, and as such being an audiovisual representative for a specific song, and it’s fascinating how they create it in accordance with either the lyrics in the song, the mood of the song, the energy of it, the instrumentation, the structure/melody or symbolic even. This could enhance the quality of some songs, while an extremely bad/misleading/crappy music video could degrade your experience of a song to a pile of $h!t. As I’ve said before, it is a part of the artistic and musical concept and creativity, and those music videos with days/weeks/months of work behind them, or even those simple and amazing ones that actually shows what there is to love about that song and expresses that passion in a good way, truly deserves some credit and respect tbh/tbf. Anyway, I had no videos for Mine All Mine, Boys & Girls, M.A.G.I.C or Robots In Love and it did them no harm whatsoever :P Freeze's own entry doesn't have a video either so it can't be that much of a bonus he gives, maybe just to separate out two songs he likes the same amount. And to answer this; yes, you're right. In "theory" I just rate them higher, but how I "add my bonus" in practice/by pointage is moreso just to seperate out two or more songs I like the same amount. I actually gave M.A.G.I.C a twelve in The Best Of so there's absolutely nothing to worry about really.
May 5, 201015 yr But at the end of the day, we're judging the songs here, not videos. I know videos can enhance songs, but I feel that the songs that don't have videos would be at a disadvantage, and that's just not fair. I also have the videos on the background like gooddelta, so that i'm not influenced positively or negatively by them, and then I can remain neutral with my judging.
May 5, 201015 yr Freeze for sure needs to participate in some other forum where they have Music Video Contest :P I don't care about the music videos and mainly in this contest where half of the songs doesn't have videos...If I want to give credits about any video then I'll just find the topic for that particular artist/song only GaGa for now :P but still each to their own methods.
May 6, 201015 yr I am not just a big fan of – and passionate about – the music in itself; as the lyrics, vocals, melody, sounds and instrumentation, song structure etc. But I’m also passionate about films, movie directing and music videos in particular. I guess I'm weird. :P I can count the times I have been to a cinema in the last 10 years on one hand as well and I don't watch more than 1 or 2 full movies on TV per month. I guess I'm just not a big movie/video fan.
May 6, 201015 yr As the format of the contest has changed I've decided to change my voting system as well. The whole voting time will be divided into 3 approximately equal periods so that after each period (except the last one) The start -> |---------|--------|---------| <- the time I'll vote (isn't necessarily the deadline). When the '|' bar time comes i vote. I.e. after different 3 sets of votes I will sum up everything and thus songs that were amazing at the beginning but they wore off/grew on me massively in the end despite not liking them prior to that moment will not have vast advantages or disadvantages. :w00t:
May 6, 201015 yr 6 songs are fighting for 1 point :heehee: actually I'm liking the big final...2 weeks is enough to judge the songs in proper way...some of the songs that I thought I'm liking are really nothing after 5-6 listens...3 weeks ago I was sure that one song will get top marks...but now I got bored...also I'm trying to be fair in equally measures with songs I've discovered through this contest and the songs I already knew...but still undecided with the ranks...I seriously love all 15 songs...and if the country I'm awarding with 1 point is not happy then f*** you very much cause I worked hard making this list :).
May 6, 201015 yr Just to make things slightly interesting, my 12 points went to a country who I have NEVER given a 12 too before. (Believe it or not! :o)
May 6, 201015 yr Just to make things slightly interesting, my 12 points went to a country who I have NEVER given a 12 too before. (Believe it or not! :o) Do you mean the top marks, or the actual 12?

I don't believe it is, it's just an extra. The fact that alot of songs don't have videos and that it's mostly the highly supported artists that get videos means to me that it's not the video that matters at all. You can have the most beautiful video ever but if the song sounds like dirge it's no good. I can honestly say that song videos don't effect me in the slightest.
May 7, 201015 yr Music videos were invented because some guy was too bored of just listening to music  The main goal for creating music videos imo is to promote songs on TV and internet (the former being the main media source nowadays).
May 7, 201015 yr Just to make things slightly interesting, my 12 points went to a country who I have NEVER given a 12 too before. (Believe it or not! :o) Intriguing! Honestly though, I felt like I was giving out 4 top marks when voting due to the new system. I think the final scoreboards are going to be really spread out. If there is a runaway winner, it could potentially (of course it wouldn't) get a maxiumum of 846 points :o And a really unpopular song could still very easily get nothing.
May 7, 201015 yr 864 actually. but close :kink: I don't remember if Jonjo gave Lenka a 12 but if so my 18 points are doomed. :(
May 7, 201015 yr 864 actually. but close :kink: I don't remember if Jonjo gave Lenka a 12 but if so my 18 points are doomed. :( There are 48 countries, the winning country can't give points to themselves, so 47 x 18 = 846 :o
