May 13, 201015 yr She's on Slow Train To Dawn. She's in the video too oE7qx5DnUMI I don't know how many times I have listened to that album and I never picked up on that!
May 13, 201015 yr  After i finished i thought you'd love it, and i was hoping you might luck into. If you want it i'll be more than happy to throw the link your way. That goes for anyone else as well. I already have 18/20 tracks on my iTunes but I shall youtube the two I don't know ^_^
May 13, 201015 yr Riding In The Beautiful Sky Quite excited with a title like that, i couldn't wait to get at it's contents. Track 01 || And so it begins, starts off with an intriguing opening then after an air raid siren the guitar kicks in and i though aww $h!t, if the whole compilation is like this i'm f***ed. I persevere and i'm glad, coz the vocal's kick it up a gear and the guitar calms down a little into a pretty awesome rift. I can understand why this was chosen to open the comp. Not the sort of music i listen to normally, but that was the whole purpose of this for me. I shall be putting this track onto my iPod - 7.5/10 Track 02 || Another intriguing opening, kind of Bollywood in style and it quickly turns out to be something entirely different. Another track with a strong guitar lead and something else i wouldn't normally go out of my way to listen to. The female vocals are a welcome addition. Not quite as good as the album opener, but still pretty decent and will probably make it onto my iPod as well. - 7.25/10 Track 03 || Complete tempo shift here as we start off with an acoustic guitar this time. I love the strings in the background of this, stunning. The vocals are really nice as well. Can't wait to find out who this is. Best track so far. - 8.75/10 Track 04 || This is AMAZING. I love everything about it. The backing track, the vocals - quite quirky, and the feel of the song. It kinda has a retro feel, like it wouldn't be out of place on the radio way back when yet it still sounds fresh. I adore this, i have to find more by this artist - 10/10 Track 05 || Another promising female vocal. I love the intro and how the vocals build it up until the drums kick in and the song kicks off. Brilliant Track - 9/10 Track 06 || All of these tracks have intriguing intro;s that grab me or give me false impressions of the track. The best part of this track is the breakdown at the 4min or so mark. Other than that, the song does seem to drag on for quite some time. It definitely feels like it's 6minutes long. - 6.25/10 Track 07 || Onto something a bit more electro, i'm sorry, but i really don't like this track at all. There's just something about it i can't put my finger on that puts me off - 4/10 Track 08 || Similar to the last track in a way and if i'm honest it's not that good either. For me anyway the comp has kinda hit a low point - 4.25/10 Track 09 || Oh hai epicness! After two dodgy tracks i was beginning to worry, it had all started so well. This track restored my faith entirely. I'm sorry whoever you are i doubted you, this track is fanf***ingtastic. I don't really know what to classify this as, it has an air of eurodance about it, without being overly obvious. Intrigued as to who this is - 9.5/10 Track 10 || I love love love love love love love love love love this track. When the strings started i was just like, no, it can't be. Then the vocals started and confirmed it. It was indeed Alcazar's Headlines. Superb track, i love this to bits. It made the shortlist for my comp but didn't make it in the end as i couldn't really find anywhere for the camp trio to fit. I really love this track - 10/10 Track 11 || After the epicness of Alcazar i was prepared for this to be poor or it to slink back away from the eurodance. I was wrong. 11 is at least as amazing as 9. I have a feeling that the singer is Scandinavian, i get a hint of September about the vocals without it actually being September. Another really strong track - 9.5/10 Track 12 || Another strong track that is more eurodancey than the start of the comp. I'm loving the close to this album it's fantastic. - 9/10 Track 13 || This cd just gets better and better! Yet another stunning track that firmly appeals to my dance side. I realise i seem to be writing less and less as i love the tracks more and more, but there are only so many compliments i can pay - 9/10 Track 14 || Love the piano intro to this, and the beat in the background behind the piano which remains dominant throughout pleasingly. Fantastic track - 9/10 Track 15 || The end has come already *sniff sniff* I love the backing to this, it's interesting and different with many levels. I wouldn't want to guess what instruments have been used. A Very powerful track and a very good end to a great CD. - 8/10 Overall, this CD has been on the most part fantastic. 14/15 new discoveries which was the aim of the game for me. Most of these i shall keep. Very strong CD with a slight dip imo in the middle and very much a CD of two halfs. The first predominately is made of things i wouldn't normally listen to but enjoyed and the second half is mainly stuff that's right up my street like Alcazar. I really enjoyed this cd thank you very much for such an enjoyable listen. I look forward to seeing who's cd this is and it's tracklisting.
May 13, 201015 yr I've skipped through the album that I've got. I've already got a pretty good idea who compiled this album (Delete Your Music Collection And Replace It With This CD), and I think it is fair to say it would not be to everyone's taste. I intend to write a review (hopefully) over the weekend, or by the end of the next weekend at the latest.
May 13, 201015 yr You did indeed have mine Ghosty and I must say I was pleased when I found out you did because although you love Eurovision (and my cd was pretty far removed from that) you are always open minded with music so I hoped you'd like at least something. Anyway, this is what you've heard/endured 1. The Beast (spoken word intro by Lydia Lunch) - Just to set the tone (oh and it's 'blood and guts' not goths utit probably could be ) 2. Tool And Die - Consolidated - Briefly popular in the mid 90s alternative scene. Kind of an Industrial/Rap/Dance act. 3. Destroy The Heart - The House Of Love - Late 80s Indie single that I hace always just adored for it's sheer simplicity 4. Lady Scarface - Lydia Lunch - From the Queen Of Siam album. This is one of her more melodic periods 5. Dark Wood Wakes Too (excerpt) - Current 93 - An snippet from the track taken off their 80s album Swastikas For Noddy. The vocals are by former Strawberry Switchblade singer Rose McDowell. There's a lot of their stuff like this but be very careful when investigating further. Their early work is more akin to Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. I'd recommend starting with Swastikas... though 6. Spawn Of Dysfunction - Die So Fluid - London 3 piece whose singer Grog I used to go pubbing with in the early 90s. She was originally in hotly tipped Indie bands Flinch and Feline 7. Heartland - The The - From the 1986 album Infected. The band is basically Matt Johnson but has at times included Johnny Marr and gave Neneh Cherry her first taste of fame 8. Touched - Vast - Eastern influenced track from the one man band Vast. 9. Civilisation Street - Culture Shock - Ex Subhumans members ska influenced anarcho-pacifist outfit. 10. Dada 331 - Cranes - Portsmouth band who started of like The Cocteau Twins on bad acid and went all shoegazing around 1990. 11. Gloomy Sunday - Christian Death - I'd be surprised if this is who you were thinkng of but impressed if it is. The vocals are by former member Gitane Demone. This is my favourite version of this. From the Holocaust themed album 1986 Atrocities. They're crap now. 12. Love Like Blood - Killing Joke - So glad you liked this. Probably my favourite band in the world these days. From the album Night Time. If curious check out that album and Brighter Than A 1000 Suns. Be careful with other albums, brutal, pounding Industrial and post Punk lie within. 13. Beautiful Love - Julian Cope - From the album Peggy Suicide 14. Black Flowers Please - Current 93 - Also from Swastikas For Noddy 15. From Enslavement To Obliteration - Napalm Death - Didn't really expect anyone to like Grindcore but you never know  16. Hiroshima Mon Amour - Ultravox! - But that's not Midge Ure I hear you cry. No, it isn't. It's with original lead singer John Foxx. Thought you'd like this if anyone. Thre's also a version with violin and no sax but it's a bit raucous at the end. From the album Ha! Ha! Ha! 17. Dear God - XTC - One of my favourites from the 80s 18. Hammer Horror Glamour - Devilish Presley 19. Back And Forth - Dr. Steel - Steampunk/Dark Cabaret band that I've only just discovered. 20. Peek A Boo - Siouxsie & Banshees - My fave of theirs 21. A Gorey Demise - Creature Feature - Inspired by the cartoons of Edward Gorey in particular The Ghaslycrumb Tinies (all Tim Burton fans should check him out) 22. Human Fly - The Cramps - The invention of Psychobilly and Horrorpunk 23. Hey Ho (The Noddy Oh) - Current 93 - Same album 24. Nothing Is Under Your Control - Send More Paramedics - Leeds based Zombiecore outfit 25. In The House: In A Heartbeat - John Murphy - From the soundtrack to 28 Days Later Hope that helps and I'm glad to have at least pricked your interest in a few acts there. Again I was pleased you got it as I knew you'd appreciate it and not hate everything. I didn't really have a theme except trying to reflect some of my taste (sadly Betty Boo just didn't make the cut) and not make it too eclectic and disjointed. If you want more info on any of the acts ('m thinking particularly Current 93 who are obscure to say the least) feel free to ask. I'd be interested to see your reactions now you know who they all are by. Any shocks surprises, looks of bemusement? And thanks again :D 01 - I thought "blood and goths" was a bit of a bizarre lyric! 05, 14 & 23 - Awesome! I will be investigating that album most definitely! I rather like Strawberry Switchblade too, but didn't recognise the link between the two. 07 - Ahh, The The, yes my mother did have an LP of theirs so that'll be where I recognise it from :D. Might buy Infected. 11 - No, never heard of them! Not sure who I was thinking of, maybe Alison Moyet... Another album I'll be checking out. 12 - Will definitely look in to the two albums you suggested! 16 - Ultravox? Good grief! :o And John Foxx is in my singles chart this week  How weird!
May 13, 201015 yr Author <3 this has been lovely so far. by the way, i got 'Doodles'. I'll probably be reviewing over the weekend sometime maybe? Maybe next weekend. A couple of tracks I already know, one is even my BJSC entry for this month, but lots of discoveries as well. i just realized how painfully obvious i made my cd. OH WELL. whompwhompwhomp. also, not that this really needs to be stated, but all of these matchups were done with randomizer. i knew that the grebo -> silas trade would be a disaster as soon as i saw it hahaha, but i'm glad both sides handled it fine.
May 13, 201015 yr I only know it's yours as I've just been on last.fm homepage and you came up on my friends list as listening to "i've decided not to leave this town; maybe i can stay and find some other nice people, who will like me and accept me for who i am" which is the artist name on my CD....
May 13, 201015 yr Heart's Desire looks pretty awesome to me! I can send you the link if you want? It's a Rapidshare link tho, Mediafire was being a bit of a dick when i was trying to upload.

FU LAST.FM hahaha ah well, it would be apparent from the styling of everything / the tracks later anyway. enjoy the CD, nonetheless.
May 13, 201015 yr also, not that this really needs to be stated, but all of these matchups were done with randomizer. weird. When I was making mine I had once person at the back of my mind and by chance that person seems to have got it.
May 13, 201015 yr i knew that the grebo -> silas trade would be a disaster as soon as i saw it hahaha, but i'm glad both sides handled it fine. LOL :P I'm already looking forward to the next one! And I would like links to Rabbit's, TiP's and yours as well (when they've been reviewed.)

I want the link to this one after the review... I got MS's on ChC and I ended up buying about 8 albums as a result.
May 13, 201015 yr I have only listened to parts of a few tracks on mine so far (just really out of curiousity) a few I recognise already, it seems an alright playlist from the bits I have heard, but I will leave my real judgement to a whole listen to it this weekend.

I put a bit of everything on there just incase it ended up in the hands of an Indie fan :heehee: . My original album for this was 15 Steps-esque songs! I thought better of that idea though :kink: Tracklisting: 01. The Storm - Wall Of Shame: I knew the start of this album would either delight the listener or horrify them. I'm really glad you liked it though. It is an epic metal tune, really dramatic yet can crossover easily to pop fans I think because of the great production and easy-on-the-ears vocals. Danish band, taken from their second album Black Luck. 02. Xandria - Sisters Of The Light: Mystical and a real oddity for the band as they usually do Evanescence style music. This has a more ethnic and electro feel whilst keeping the guitars. They are a German group, iirc, and this is a track from the album Salome: The Seventh Veil. 03. Anika Moa - Standing In This Fire: A very charming and emotional ballad. I love this. She is from New Zealand and this is from the album In Swings The Tide. 04. Katzenjammer - Demon Kitty Rag: Really glad you liked this, Norweigian band, their album Le Pop is fundamentally brilliant. I think they were in BJSC last year sometime, as I found out about them on ChC via Gooddelta who had charted them with A Bar In Amsterdam. I instantly fell in love and their album was my favourite of last year. Sorry about the format too, I tried to convert it to mp3 but it kept cutting off the opening few seconds of the song  05. Rosie Oddie & The Odd Squad - Cola Coka: They are now known as Oddyssey. Rosie is the daughter of Bill Oddie. I was sent this song by a PR company to review when I did reviews for a music website. It was one of the only decent CDs I was ever sent by a PR company! 06. Music Go Music - Reach Out: Yes, I thought this might drag a bit, but I wanted to put on a token "filler" track to make this collection of songs feel more like an average album you'd buy. The group's album Expressions is great however, Light Of Love is one track you must hear if you haven't already! 07. Spleen United - 66: This was included more to cover the event of this album landing up on the computer of an indie lover. Danish band, taken from the album Neanderthal. 08. The Modern - Model 426: Maybe this was the wrong choice of song to include by The Modern. They have so many great tunes, but this was always one of their more leftfield offerings. 09. Hanna Lindblad - Manipulated: A Melodifestivalen 2010 entry! I'm thinking of entering this into BJSC next time as in it's studio form it's fantastic! It sounded awful live though  . Glad you liked this :D 10. Alcazar - Headlines: I almost didn't include this after reading many hateful remarks about them on the forum, glad I did now as it helped save the album  11. Da Buzz - Take All My Love: You're right! They are Swedish! A dance trio who have sadly disbanded now. Their Greatest Hits is a worthwile purchase though, and it's very cheap on the nordicmusik.com website. This was one of the singles released for the Greatest Hits album. 12. Benny Benassi feat. Channing - Come Fly Away: This is my current ringtone, but it is quite old. Such a brilliant dance tune! The title of this compilation came from a lyric in this song. 13. Lasgo - You: An album track from their debut album, Some Things. Absolutely stunning, as is the rest of that album  14. Infernal - Whenever You Need Me: I love this track. Their two latest albums, From Paris To Berlin and Electric Cabaret (from which this track is taken from) are both fantastic! 15. Shiny Toy Guns - Frozen Oceans: This was one of the only decent tracks on their last album, but what a track it is. Just superb I think  Really happy you enjoyed most of it anyway :D
May 13, 201015 yr I can send you the link if you want? It's a Rapidshare link tho, Mediafire was being a bit of a dick when i was trying to upload. Grebo sent me it whilst I was replying to your review, but thanks for the offer :D Will listen to it in due course, looking forward
May 13, 201015 yr The Journey The Journey is indeed a journey. What you undertake when pressing play is a trip across time. Across soul. There are 13 tracks on this compilation that work as sampler for soul – retro to modern. However, these 13 tracks are prefaced by two of pop music whitest of performers – a Swede and a Scot. Yes, in a strange turn that, while enjoyable and eclectic, is never-the-less at odds with the rest of the compilation, Calvin Harris and Robyn are first up. The ambient squiggles of the High Contrast reworking of Harris’ Ready for the Weekend are the first exciting sound you hear on track one. It soon falls into familiar Pendulum territory with pervasive synths and a quick fire base/kick drum sound. At least it does have the soulfulness of the sample. On track two Robyn’s almost fearful vocals on This One’s For You chill you in a way only she can. I have to admit I still don’t get Robyn and really I should. She has the edge that I like but this hasn’t changed my opinion much at all. On track three we’re back to uplifting dance-soul with female/male vocals telling us about “releasing the pressure”. The usually filtering is going on but mercifully we are spared auto-tune. Track four is similarly uplifting with a touch of David Guetta’s work that we heard on Rock that Body from BEP. It could be him, or someone who is as much in thrall to Daft Punk’s almost decade old tricks. The consistency so far is impressive. Now we take a turn for the electo – and more attitude too. Bouncy synths and an urban egde with some unobtrusive rapping. This could be a quite impressive CD 2 on a late 00s Now album…. Next is a low point on the album for me – some waffle about streams and chatter that could be a wayward All Saint. It feels horribly out of date. It could be a grower but there’s an irritating hook at the start “I should do what I do, how I do, why I do, when I do!. Plus rap that you might find on a Blue song. Not great. Back to dance soul again which is a welcome turn of events. It’s fairly anonymous and doesn’t halt the mid-comp lag that The Journey seems to be suffering. Probably called Rollercoaster and we all know songs about rollercoasters are never great. Then we get with the funk – real drums and a Lenny Kravitz-esque swagger bring the first male vocal dominated track. It’s reminiscent of a rocker Scissor Sisters. The second half of The Journey is where the real soul appears. Track 9 is a duet of the kind that Janet and Michael Jackson would have been happy to do. Some long forgotten scratching makes this a lively track. Proper variety too with some great stop-star parts. The classiness is upped a few notches with track 10. Deep vocals that never show off but impress all the more. On track 11 we hit the high watermark of The Journey. This is utterly gorgeous – some harp shimmers give way to some perky vocals that are laid over great guitar. This is the sound of being in love on a warm Summer’s afternoon. It’s relentlessly up. We dip next into a song that tries hard to be as balmy as the previous track but it could never match its ecstatic ease. It’s a cloying conceit about chocolate addiction as a metaphor for love but we all know that love is just a substitute for chocolate. Things slow down with the following track with expressive bass and dramatic strings trying to hide the fact that it doesn’t really have a melody. However, there’s a wonderful lift in the bass that is the major hook. On the penultimate song a no-good-man gets a telling off with strident old school vocals – this track could come from anywhere from 1965 onwards. I have a feeling it’s just a brilliant homage to Ella or Aretha. Nice. We finish on simple piece of vocals harmony that En Vogue traded in but this isn’t them. A great finish to a good compilation most of which is better than your average warbling approximation of soul and nearly all of which would sound great in the evening Sun. Very good. 7/10 I really can't guess who made this. Edited May 13, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
