Which songs of the last decade will be regarded as classics in years to come. I mean classics in the vein of songs such as 'Livin' on a Prayer', 'Sweet Child O Mine', 'Like a Prayer', etc. Sorry bad examples.

Anyways these are just some of the ones I think will be regarded in the same way.

Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire

The Killers - Mr. Brightside

Rihanna - Umbrella

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

Lady GaGa - Poker Face & Bad Romance

Kylie - Can't Get You Out of My Head

Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor,

I can't think of any more at the moment but feel free to add your own.

If this is in the wrong place can you move it. Thank you. Sorry if it is

As much as I hate to say it the song from the 00s most likely to go down as an all-time classic is in fact the worst song ever recorded in my opinion - Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.

Just thought of another that I missed off. Gnarls Barkley - Crazy. THE moment downloads arrived.

As well as those that you mentioned, these spring to mind;

Leona Lewis-Bleeding Love

Spiller feat Sophie Ellis Bextor-Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)

Take That-Rule The World

Outkast-Hey Ya!

Most likely are:

Kings Of Leon- Sex on Fire

Snow Patrol- Chasing Cars

Killers- Mr Brightside

Kylie- Cant get you out of my head

Lady Gaga- Poker Face

Leona Lewis- Bleeding Love

However, for emphasis on which songs will stand the test of time, I suggest you look at this list:

http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/W...limit=0/rss.xml

the songs that are lower down, from 10-5 years ago but are still there will probably become classics

Outkast-Hey Ya!

THIS

Otherwise, who knows? "American Idiot" is obviously the rock classic to have come out of the last decade in the same vein of "Livin' On A Prayer" or "Sweet Child O'Mine".

Also:

Take That - Patience

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

Coldplay - Viva la Vida / Fix You

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

Eminem - Stan / Lose Yourself

VV Brown 'Shark In The Water'

I'm being serial!

No? OK...

The Killers 'Mr Brightside'/'Human'

Britney Spears 'Toxic'

Snow Patrol 'Run'

Train 'Drops Of Jupiter'

Baha Men - Who Let The Dogs Out

La Roux - In For The Kill?

I think both KOL songs might become classics, SOF more likely though

Also another one that people will not like

Nickleback 'Rockstar'

Nickleback 'Rockstar'

I was actually gonna put that as one of those that will be looked back in years to come as one of the worst records of all time

Nickleback 'Rockstar'

Oddly, despite it being everywhere all throughout 2008, I've barely heard it since - yet I still hear How You Remind Me...

BEP - IGAF & WITH

Both KOL songs

Eminem - Lose Yourself & Stan

Baha Men defo

Also Chasing Cars and Run by Snow Patrol.

I Can't Get You Outta My Head by Kylie as well.

Also Kids by MGMT. Can't believe nobody said that one yet...

Lady GaGa - Poker Face

Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha

Rihanna - Umbrella

Nickleback - Rockstar

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

Leona Lewis Bleeding Love

Leona Lewis Run

Snow Patrol Chasing Cars

Take That Rule The World

Kings of Leon Use Somebody

Will add more as i think of them..

I think 'Fight For This Love' might be remembered fondly. Also 'No One' by Alicia Keys, 'Single Ladies', 'Stan', 'How To Save A Life', 'No Air', 'I Kissed A Girl', 'Man Who Can't Be Moved', 'Apoligise', 'Mercy', 'Four Minutes', 'Up'.

Up, by the saturdays? A classic? Are you joking?

Its their best single and i love the song but seriously a CLASSIC? :0 lol

I think some of you guys arent understanding the meaning of a 'classic' just listing songs that have been successful and you are fans of.

Not just any hit can be a classic..!

I would define a classic as a song that will still be getting good amounts of airplay on mostly all radio stations in 20 years from now, so reality pop, boybands, rap, and techno can automatically be ruled out straight away.

Some recent girl group pop classics would be About You Now, Push The Button, Up, Love Machine, Don't Cha.

It's sold over 300K, is still played regulary on radio and music channels, is their signature song, is listed in many "best girlband songs" polls, did well in the charts and this was without anything XF related helping it.
