Posted May 19, 201015 yr I took a look at the voting bias on BJSC XXVI. There isn't enough data to draw any conclusion but here is the data anyway. Videos 20 songs had a video and scored 2540 points in total. 28 songs did not have a video and scored 3288 points in total. That suggests having a video gives a song an extra 5.58 points while not having a video results in a loss of -3.99 points Artist from country where English is first language UK/US/Canada/Australia/Ireland etc 26 songs by English artist 3175 points in total. 22 songs did not have a video and scored 2653 points in total. That suggests being in English language artist gives a song an extra 0.70 points while not being lost -0.83 points Short/Long songs 25 songs where 3:33 or less with 3189 points in total scored. 23 songs where 3:34 or more with 2639 points in total. That suggests BJSC voters prefer the shorter songs. +6.14 for short songs and -6.68 points for the longer ones. Charted in UK/USA 13 artists has previous charted in UK/USA singles chart, they scored 1856 points, an average 142.8 points The remaining 35 had 3972 an average 113.49 points in total. That suggests using previously charted artists would gain a song 21.35 points while not charting before lost -7.93. Of course it could be that previous charting artist just make better music, or more commercial music fitting a BJSC voter....but hey you can decide. :P Solo artists 16 solo artists scored 2009 points in total(average 126), while the remaining 32 scored a total of 3819(average 119). That suggests a solo artists scores 4.15 more while others lose -2.07 points. Vocals Male/Female/other Everyone knows BJ loves a female artist right? Well let's see... 10 songs had male only vocals, scoring 991 points(average 99.10) 24 songs had female only vocals, scoring 3062 points(average 127.6) 14 other songs, with mixed vocals (or in Jasper Forks case none) these scored 1775 points(average 126.8) So that suggests Males -22.32 points Females +6.17 points Both/None +5.37 points Not much difference between Females and Both/None, but a big negative with male only vocals. It was done the other day by Pavel in the final voting thread I believe. Sheelah still won, with 163 points, about 30 or so over 2nd place. Considering there would have been an extra 18 countries than usual in the final, 160 isn't that bad a score for a winner - Uh Huh Her got less iirc with 20 songs less choice :lol:

Songs that have a video they received an average of 127 points, while those without a video received an average 117 points. This implies it's better to have a video...and so that is a bias that I've tried to iron out in the adjusted figures.
