Tonight's episode just seemed to drag on for ages, and we have to sit through the entire thing yet again. The dancing segement was awful and pointless, and was seemingly done only for sympathy for Mary. Brian Friedman was awful as ever, and has hopefully now crawled back from under the rock he first appeared from. Making them all sing the same song in their category was rather unfair aswell and was done only for everyone to go 'OH LOLZ ITS OLD PEOPLE SINGING POKER FACE'

Cher was good, but live shows will ruin her when she inevitably gets giving Cheryl Cole and Leona Lewis songs to sing, she wont be able to adapt to the silly themed weeks at all. Chloe provided some entertainment aswell, I sort of wish she had a worse singing voice though so they could finally send her home and stop treating her like such a joke. She wont make live shows, as much as I'd like her to.

oh and that dancing thing was just SO pointless it was unbelievable- there are many great singers who dont move around on stage and it doesnt do them any harm- their meant to be finding the next best SINGER!

and dont even get me started on how scripted that incident with Zain was

That was so obvious. I'd have loved it when Simon walked over to him asking 'why are you down here (and not dancing)?' he'd have replied ... 'because that guy in the producer's hat told me to.'

Love it!

Just watched last nights show. At first I was a bit  about Cher's performance, but after watching it back I love it

Where did Zayn come from ? I don't remember seeing his audition at all. All I remember is someone telling me to follow him on twitter a few weeks ago and I had no idea who he was

The whole "I can't dance" thing was so set up. I don't think they could have made it more obvious

Apparently FYD used to work as dancers on the show. No wonder Brian was praising them so much

The dance section was so unnecessary though

The dancing part was so silly, there are clearly people there like Mary who just wouldn't be the type of artist to dance....so what's the point in trying to make her dance like she's Shakira?

Yeah, but I guess it kinda just prepares them a bit because you have to move when singing, even if it is just walking across the stage a few times. :)

The more and more I watch this show it makes me realise just how fixed it is

There were some really talented people shown during the audition stages and yet it seems the medicore ones end up on the Live Shows

It seems you can't get far on the show without some sort of connection/background story

JLS probably only made it onto the show as they had won an Urban Music Award for "Best Unsigned Act" in 2007 and also Ali Tennant who was a vocal coach on last nights show is friends with them. I remember seeing him credited on their album as helping with a few songs and him being around for the tour. I didn't realise he was part of the show until now

& Alexandra also won an Urban Music Award back in 2004. Only just found that out yesterday

I really wasn't that fussed over Cher AT ALL. The rapping was fine, the singing was OK, but they didn't mix together AT ALL. She may aswell have been two different performers singing two different songs. Simon was quite right - "all over the place". It's just very confused.

My favourite was last night was probably that odd guy singing Sweet Child O Mine. Similar to Jamie Archer last year, but I suspect Storm will be a bit more versatile.

Storm is a professional singer, has done backing vocals for the likes of Meatloaf and several other artists so he is already a polished performer, not really the type of singing into a hairbrush in the bedroom/singing in the shower sort of thing which X Factor should really be about, someone who has performed on stage infront of 50,000 people is not really what X Factor should be about

None of them who end up at the live stages are though Craig! I don't care if Storm fella is some sort of professional ... he had one of the best voices. His background isn't really that different to Alex, JSL, etc. Even Leona had had a record out before. The only one I can think of who was a total 'music scene' virgin was Leon Jackson ... and what happened to him? No ... I used to think it was all unfair ... but now ... well ... 'all's fair in love and singing contests'.

The dancing element? Brought in for public entertainment and contestants humiliation! Simple!

I'm off to the driving range now so see you all later!

I like Storm tbh, he is a way better singer than Jamie Archer, Archer screaming his way through Get it On last year was dire beyond belief, Storm is very good albeit a bit too polished

I like underdogs tbh which is why I would love to have a winner of X Factor who both has talent but is also not a professional/highly experienced singer

Storm Lee has a good voice but he needs to stop trying to jump around the stage like Axl Rose could in his heyday. It just looks awkward! Also, less of the vocal w*n**ry would be good - don't know why he felt the need to butcher 'Sweet Child O Mine' by stretching his vocal chords on every syllable.
Storm Lee is sooo annoying :puke: Cher was amazing as usual
She is different but she is not credible as a white person trying to be a rapper/r+b artist, she was way aggressive with her singing tonight, can just imagine her singing songs about knife crime and cop killing when infact she has never left her suburban Malvern home till X Factor and just has a white middle class upringing, she is as ghetto as David Cameron is.

She needs to move away from all this wanabee gangsta stuff

Actual LOL.

So singing a Keri Hilson song and rapping the chorus to Coldplay equates to being the sort who'd brag about killing in her music now?! That's funny.

The subconcious racism surrounding urban music really annoys me. Who said you had to be black to sing R&B/rap/urban music?! It may have black origins, but there's nothing that says you have to be black to be that kind of artist. It happens the other way too, black artists being categorised as R&B when, if a white artist performed the same song, it'd be classed as Pop.

Cher is obviously most passionate about urban music and goodness knows we complain about X Factor contestants being manipulated and treated like puppets. But, when we see a white girl doing what she wants to do (urban music), we call her a 'wigga'.

If this is the sort of music she wants to do, I don't see why she shouldn't continue to do it. I personally found both her performances a breath of fresh air. (though I feel her second performance may have been edited to look more 'all over the place' than it was) But this is why she will not be the winner. She'll be criticised for only being good at one thing, even if she is really good at that one thing, and finish about 5th. (if she makes the live shows) I think it's a bit silly really, who cares if she won't excel at Disco week or Big Band week? Who'd expect to see either of those genres on a Cher Lloyd album anyway, it doesn't mean she's not diverse? She's already proved she is by taking Coldplay and putting her spin on it.

Actual LOL.

Well done Aaron, what I was trying and failing to say :(

I agree with Aaron that I think Cher will have a problem with all the hype and the fact shes early favourite, she could be this years Diana Vickers and finish around 4th :(

Last night was bizarre though, that stuff about Oprah Winfrey/Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods, it was almost a parody of hip hop hard to take her seriously, it was almost Jade Goody-esque seeing her trying to name 3 famous black people to include in a rework of an indie rock song

Cher will monopolise the Cheryl Cole fan, chav and youth vote for the early rounds but she is very much like marmite and I think that will harm her in the long run in X Factor

I loved Cher's performance, there was something incredible about it. It's like she's got an aura about herself and she brings that to her performances.

She didn't write that bit of the song like she said she did. Its taken from a Swizz Beatz song called "That Oprah"
