I'm saddened to see such a one-sided view of football in this country. Do you really think you know better than every pundit (English or otherwise) asked about yesterday's game? Believe it or no the players in the English team actually care about being at the World Cup, if they didn't they'd be on a plane right now. Witness France.

Rant over ;)

one-sided?? i do believe it's england who are one-sided. the rest of the UK judge on performance. nationality of the pundits?? thought so. i believe they care about being at the world cup. but i know football well enough to know that the germans are looking much stronger. you said based on yesterday's performance. yesterday's performance was against a country with less than 500 professional football players and the english capitalised ONCE. that is NOT good. they couldn't string passes together either. face it, the pundits say what they said to keep the hope alive. but germany are a much stronger, more organised and more skilled team than england. if they don't win, it'll be a MAJOR upset. let's face it, england are huge underdogs going into this match. but don't ever again call me f**king one-sided. i judge the football based on what i watch. heck, in 2002, i was going to support england all the way. but this year, they don't have the same kind of heart and spirit. their football isn't as good or exciting to watch as the other teams either. it's a tad hypocritical to call me one-sided though. although i do forgive you, realising how blinded you are by the truth.

iTunes-wise, i don't really care about all the football songs. it doesn't bother me. the only thing that bothers me is the constant plays they get on music channels when i just want to have a nice sit-down and watch some good music.

I hate it how everyone is hoping England go out of the World Cup at the earliest opportunity just over some petty iTunes thing, I mean grow up guys. On a lighter note, glad that "Airplanes" is climbing. It was never in doubt really ^_^

Surely growing up would be not caring about such a $h!tty event that people take so seriously like it's a life or death situation when in actual fact there's more important things going on in the world.

But you and several other people treat iTunes as if it's a life or death situation too, same thing.

the world cup is pretty big..

Why because I put a :w00t: next to a comment about one of my favourite artists climbing?

I don't get in a strop or get extremely angry (like football fans often do) if a song drops. Yes i'm disappointed but my reaction is nowhere near as bad as that of football fans whenever their team loses a game. -_-

I know this is off topic, but Kylies album JUST LEAKED.

IT IS AMAZING.

with all due respect, the World Cup isnt a $h!tty event, its quite an important one :o

Actually I do see where you're coming from, the loud bellowing in every bar I went in over the weekend was quite overwhelming. But still, my previous point still holds a lot of weight about the majority of people that frequently post in this thread (and I admit myself too occasionally).

I'm with silver rocket on this one.

So hypocritical to say 'so many other things going on in the world' when you're so interested in itunes and songs climbing etc.

The world cup unites people in countries & brings together countries from all over the world to compete in something fun & exciting, to want it to be over because there are two footy songs in the top 10 is PATHETIC.

hm enough said.

Back to itunes

What I dont get is why people are complaining- theres only two football songs in the top 10- Shout and K'Naan, plus Shakira in the top 15- I understand people hating Shout, but the other two are good and are causing no harm, certainly not to the number 1

plus Three Lions and Vindaloo aren't even climbing, in fact there falling- neither will chart in the top 40 on sunday

that because u not a fan of football so u dont understand how passionate fans are for their team.

anyway, really hope Eminem and Rihanna can get to number 1.

Bejesus no one is getting my point!

Yes you can all love football if you want but all i'm saying is, in response to another poster "J...", it's stupid getting so mad and booing uncontrollably at a team you should be supporting just because they f**ked up etc. People take it too seriously when it's only a game and, as others have said, a bit of fun.

I would agree with your post if I was posting abuse whenever one of my favourite songs fall but I don't so... -_-

And I never moaned about the football songs although they are quite unnecessary.

Oh and calling me hypocritical and then saying what I allegedly said was pathetic is hypocritical in itself. ^_^

why are Albums always leaking ? maybe it's a good thing... Look at Miley's leak all her singles are dominating the charts worldwide.

Time to talk hard core facts:

With the two remaining groups to complete their remaining matches:

Total Shots on Target:

1. Argentina 26

2. England 19

3. Holland 18

4. USA 18

5. Brazil 16 (2 Games)

6. Germany 16

7. Greece 16

8. Italy 16

9. South Africa 14

10. Uruguay 14

11. Denmark 14

12. South Korea 14

Whilst I don't know what match you were watching yesterday afternoon, but the stats show 11 attempts on target; 65.0% possession (incidentally the 4th highest of the tournament to date not including today's fixtures) & 81.2% pass completion rate (up from 59.3% against Algeria). So if a pass completion rate of 81.2% (incidentally the 3rd highest in the tournament to date not including today's fixtures) = "they could not string passes together" then I suggest you're views are as incoherent on your country's most famous footballer of all time after he had been for taking his favourite liquid refreshment.

Also please note the far more credible ELO Football rankings which take into account the quality of the opponent (unlike FIFA's world rankings), England are ranked 5th, sandwiched between Argentina (4th) & Germany (6th).

But hey it does not matter what you think or I think.

The international betting site Betfair.com has the odds after 90 minutes for the Last 16 match v Germany:

Germany win 2/1

England win 9/5 Fav

Draw 11/5

Maybe that is because in FIFA's 2009 World Player of The Year Top 20 there was: 8th Steven Gerrard; 10th Wayne Rooney; 11th Frank Lampard; 12= John Terry ..... whilst the only German on the list was Michael Ballack 12= who sadly was injured before the tournament.

Whilst drawing at home with the Ivory Coast and losing at home to Argentina in recent friendlies suggest worldwide punters are less convinced that Germany will comfortably see off England (whose pre tournament friendly wins against fellow Last 16 qualifiers Mexico & Japan don't seem quite so shabby now), especially as Serbia showed how to shut down the opposition effectively.

......... Anyways back to iTunes ..... Shout For England is vile compared to the original Three Lions & World In Motion. I love K'naan's Waving Flags; and I'm delighted how well Katy Perry's new single is doing ......

I hate it how everyone is hoping England go out of the World Cup at the earliest opportunity just over some petty iTunes thing, I mean grow up guys.

Agreed

World cup comes around once every 4 years.. Its not the end of the world if some football songs are entering the chart.. I love how it brings the country together for once (well some people)

Thanks for bringing us back on topic there TiP :kink: Anyway, this is the iTunes thread, not the football thread. If you want to discuss the (IMHO slightly boring) world cup you can do it here.

Maybe a football forum is needed? :kink:

I feel terrible and slightly evil for saying this but I really want I Like It to flop just to make Enrique realise that he is too good for auto-tune and doesn't need to be generic to be successful.

Listening to 'Hero', it kinda frustrates me that he uses auto-tune in a song with abysmal lyrics just to be "in".
