Time to talk hard core facts:

With the two remaining groups to complete their remaining matches:

Total Shots on Target:

1. Argentina 26

2. England 19

3. Holland 18

4. USA 18

5. Brazil 16 (2 Games)

6. Germany 16

7. Greece 16

8. Italy 16

9. South Africa 14

10. Uruguay 14

11. Denmark 14

12. South Korea 14

Whilst I don't know what match you were watching yesterday afternoon, but the stats show 11 attempts on target; 65.0% possession (incidentally the 4th highest of the tournament to date not including today's fixtures) & 81.2% pass completion rate (up from 59.3% against Algeria). So if a pass completion rate of 81.2% (incidentally the 3rd highest in the tournament to date not including today's fixtures) = "they could not string passes together" then I suggest you're views are as incoherent on your country's most famous footballer of all time after he had been for taking his favourite liquid refreshment.

Also please note the far more credible ELO Football rankings which take into account the quality of the opponent (unlike FIFA's world rankings), England are ranked 5th, sandwiched between Argentina (4th) & Germany (6th).

But hey it does not matter what you think or I think.

The international betting site Betfair.com has the odds after 90 minutes for the Last 16 match v Germany:

Germany win 2/1

England win 9/5 Fav

Draw 11/5

Maybe that is because in FIFA's 2009 World Player of The Year Top 20 there was: 8th Steven Gerrard; 10th Wayne Rooney; 11th Frank Lampard; 12= John Terry ..... whilst the only German on the list was Michael Ballack 12= who sadly was injured before the tournament.

Whilst drawing at home with the Ivory Coast and losing at home to Argentina in recent friendlies suggest worldwide punters are less convinced that Germany will comfortably see off England (whose pre tournament friendly wins against fellow Last 16 qualifiers Mexico & Japan don't seem quite so shabby now), especially as Serbia showed how to shut down the opposition effectively.

......... Anyways back to iTunes ..... Shout For England is vile compared to the original Three Lions & World In Motion. I love K'naan's Waving Flags; and I'm delighted how well Katy Perry's new single is doing ......

the cheek of this post. hahaa. i really don't care what you say about northern irish football. to be honest, we know we're rubbish (although the afore-mentioned george best is better than any footballer england have ever had). can't doubt that. furthermore, rankings have nothing to do with it. teams can be made up of decent, but not world-class, players and gel well together. england do not. you can throw statistics at me for as long as you want, but the facts stand:

germany 6 pts, goal difference +4

england 5 pts, goal difference +1

shots on target are worthless if they don't go in. you can't deny that. at that, england struggled to get out of the easiest group in the tournament. the 8th best team in the world (OFFICIAL FIFA rankings)... what a load of $h!te.

i don't blame you for your opinion though. i assume u r english (although i can't be bothered to go back and check) and you are all brainwashed. hahaa. go to any other country, you'll see support for germany, brazel, argentina, spain... but very little for england... why?? because you always think you are better than you are. you don't ever try to let us see in your team what you can see, because you don't see anything. you follow in blind-faith...

also... i grew up with gambling and betting and i know bookies VERY well. the favourite doesn't necessarily mean the most likely to win. the more people who place bets, the lower the odds go. because all of england are brainwashed into thinking this team can win the world cup and can beat germany, they place more and more bets. the bookies have NO CHOICE but to lower the odds into a favourite position. but the bookies' favourite isn't always the most likely to win the match. they just can't afford high odds with the immense number of england supporters voting for them. but clearly you're naive to that. so i'll excuse that one. some people just don't know gambling... my goodness, if we went by the bookies, diversity wouldn't have come top 3 in BGT!!

as for iTunes, i would like commander to get top 10. it's such a fresh song and it has an AMAZING music video, hahaa. would love alejandro to make top 5, but it doesn't seem to be getting the tv channel support it deserves...

Oh I didnt know Chica Bomb was released next week.. must have missed it on the release schedule or something

Darren-5-08 can you please just drop it now :| Okay you don't think England are a good team fair enough.. but some people do or they simply just want to support their country. I don't see anything wrong with that

Edited by SweetDreams

Can't people discuss the world cup in the sport forum or something?

Fair enough if something is music-related and may affect the iTunes chart but football teams are quite irrelevant.

Just saying...

hey everyone,

i noticed that you mentioned enrique was released next week....but i already purchased this off itunes last week. I just searched the song and it came up.

you're probably thinking i got the wrong version or somethin but i can reassure you that i got the OFFICIAL version. I searched today out of curiousity and it had been deleted.

But i have got the single, thats why i was surprised that it hadnt charted.

It did start charting earlier in the week, but Enrique's label probably spotted it had been released earlier than planned, so they asked for it to be removed. It happens all the time.

Katys lead is reducing from the looks of that- I think she has this week, but definately no more than two weeks- JLS are out 5th July anyway, so they have that in the bag

I would convert to Loon mode if K'Naan overtook her next week- but thats not going to happen

I hope JLS do a Leona i.e everyone thinks they'll get to number one but they actually don't. -_-

It's the biggest load of ear-rape i've heard this year.

I hope by some miracle that JLS aren't #1 next week. I either want K'Naan or KP to be. Their new song is alright, but it makes me cringe when the chorus gets repeated with a beat. Not to mention I think Aston looks particularly cocky in it, which isn't good when you are autotuned into a song like that!

Wow Katy's lead is huge :) california gurls is the smash hit of the summer!!! :)

Someone obviously hasn't heard Jedwards new single :P
 Really?

well yes:

1. Its them

2. They have a huge fanbase who will buy and (allegedly ;) ) multi-buy anything they release (One Shot suffered as the album was already available)

3. to quote the most depressing reason of all: 'dey iz well fit innit'

4. its urban, the main genre around atm

I also hope that they dont make it as the song is utter tripe and literal autotuned ear-ache

I have lost all respect for Digital Spy when I read that they gave it 4 stars out of 5 :(

I'd prefer K'Naan to be #1 over JLS too, but I do like the song. However, the autotune is a bit weird. We all know thaot JLS are good singers. I think they may be using the autotune, because they feel that after the world domination that the Black Eyed Peas had last year, it's the way to go. If they're trying to break America, maybe modelling their music around the the E.N.D. might be a good idea (even if they've done it quite badly, judging by the lead single).

Let's face it, since the haven't got a fanbase in the US from the X Factor, they're not going to get big with Beat Again and Everybody in Love (despite the JR Rotem (sp?) connection).

Someone obviously hasn't heard Jedwards new single :P

When is that released?

another cover! oh dear, I cant see this doing well- their not being managed well, and should move into TV and presenting soon and ditch music :(

I don't think The Club Is Alive is particularly the most worthy #1 ever, and I very much doubt it'll be remembered in 10 years (heck, even 5 years or less) but I do like it so it predictably going to #1 won't offend me at all.

I really want K'naan to go to #1, but it'd be great as well if he manages to get among the highest selling non #1s of the year (the top 5 in this aspect are currently Rude Boy, Empire... II, Starstukk, Glee's DSB and She Said)

According to some, The Club is Alive, Shout, Baby, Everybody Hurts, Don't Stop Believin', Blah Blah Blah, Somebody To Love, Empire State of Mind, Pass Out, One Time AND Under Pressure are ALL the worst song of the year.

I agree, I think the song is better than Beat Again and Everybody in Love, so I won't be annoyed if the song goes to #1. It's just I know this is Buzzjack, so it'll have a huge lead for the first few days, sell over 100,000 in its first week, then fall to #2 the week after, and everybody will say "It only stayed at #1 for one week, what a failure".

Wrong on all counts, it's fairly clearly Eenie Meenie.

Baby, TimKat's IWEMA and Alex - ANL are all close though.
