I wonder if AATW will get this newer (awful) version of Americano at #101 deleted off itunes tomorrow

Its obvious that they are just holding out now to get a #1 (which they will miss out now if they are releasing on Sunday against JLS). Marco version is now up to #17

Yay! Airplanes up to 2 :D

their not far off Katy Perry, its a shame as its too late this week for number 1 and next week JLS will either push them down a place or keep them locked at number 2 all week

first K'Naan now Airplanes- why are all the good songs peaking at number 2 this year? :snif:

I reckon Enrique will drop pretty quickly, hes had better songs which haven't done as well :(
I think Airplanes will always be remembered as an international #2 smash. :(

I'm amazed it's doing this well now, given it sat around for 3 weeks doing little.

Never underestimate the effect of a cute female featured artist... :)

It was in the top 30 for three weeks as an album track, its presence was based entirely on the track doing well in the USA.

Since when did their sales count towards *our* chart?

On another issue, the fact that The Wanted's 'All Time Low' has dropped out of the T1000 completely, two days after being removed from sale, suggests that the iTunes chart *does* operate on a 48 hour revolving basis, as we've long suspected.

They don't. He means that people were buying it, and it was getting exposure, only because it was a hit in the US, and it wasn't picking up any airplay.

I'm surprised that sufficient people follow the US charts - why bother, when most of what charts there, charts here anyway? Pity the converse doesn't apply, though.

I have loved 'Airplanes' since I first heard it. :D

I checked it out a few months back because I saw it featured the fantastic Hayley Williams. I don't think I would've bothered if it didn't. It's an interesting pairing which I also think has people interested.

It's a shame it won't top the charts anywhere but hey look at ESOM. That only got to #2 here and was MASSIVE. La Roux also. In the UK 'Airplanes' will probably outsell Diana Vickers' 'Once' and 'Dirtee Disco' combined and pass a whole load of other 2010 #1s in the process.

A fake version of 'We Speak No Americano' is #16, surely a sign this is gonna be an absolutely monster smash?

Or... a sign that people are pissed off waiting, and are buying this *instead*?

That version of "We No Speak Americano" is not fake version. It's from 2006. It's a canadian singer who did cover that track and the charting version is a remix of his cover.

Mikey, can't remember where you said it, but I'll post in here anyway, but do you really think JLS are going to be at number 2? They're the headline act for T$ On The Beach this weekend, and surely that's going to be aired on Channel 4.
