Flo Rida - Good Feeling

2-3-4-5-6-7-3

:kink:

That chart run would also look really weird when people look back on it in the future, because of its steady fall to #7, then re-bounding to #1 suddenly. People will probably just assume Flo Rida came to the UK and performed on X Factor or something, but really, the song just got more popular I guess.

It's also very remarable for a song to climb to #1 on its 8th week in the top 10. At least in this day and age in the UK. Most of the recent songs that climbed to #1, that I can think of (Airplanes, OMG, I Gotta Feeling, etc.), they usually spend 1-3 weeks in the top 10 before cilmbing there, so 7 weeks is quite strange.

Celine Dion's Think Twice also reached #1 in its eighth week top 10 - aside from stuff in like the 50s (the second #1 ever reached there on its tenth week top 10 for example) I think that's the record. Not sure though.

Infact, I thought of one that did it. Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, although this is counting its 2nd climb to #1, and its top 10 run was non-consecutive. So it's stretching it a bit, but it's still very impressive.

well, no one would've known at the time of this thread, but I think one of the strangest chart runs in recent years comes from a certain cover of a Bob Dylan song

Was just about to post this! Like a bloody yoyo!

I like Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday's chart run, reaching it's peak 7 months after being released, and re-entering in the bottom part of the Top 40 in several weeks! Super Bass' run is good too, climbing very slowly up the Top 40 to #8! :D

Also, Kylie's Aphrodite doubling it's position 1-2-4-8-... and then Noel Gallagher's album going 1-2-4-8-16-...

I wouldn't count 2nd runs at #1 :P

Found another non-50s/60s one that matches reaching #1 on its 8th week top 10, Steps' Heartbeat/Tragedy. (gooddelta did actually mention this in comparison to Good Feeling (chartwise) the other day so I should have checked this to begin with :P)

Oh yes. Good find. Yeah, I remember someone mentioning that too. That song seemed waaaaaaaay bigger than Good Feeling though.

Michael Jackson and paul Mcartney Say Say Say is an interesting one, it looks as if its going to peak at #10 then for no apparent reason jumps into the top 3.

John Lennon's Starting Over did an about turn however this was explained by his untimely death.

This one is easily explained.

The video was released.

All Saints' Never Ever was on its ninth week in the top ten and remains the song to have sold most before climbing to #1 (it had 'spent' 750k beforehand!);

3-5-6-5-4-4-4-2-1-2-2-4-5-3-7-11-19-25-30-37-42-50-52-70

And Steps' Heartbeat/Tragedy matches Celine and Flo Rida's eight weeks.

John Lennon's "Just Like Starting Over" had a spectacular chart run, but very sadly for a tragic reason.

I think part of its chart run was: 8-13-21-1-2

In a similar vein, Elvis - 'Way Down'.

46-42-4-1-1-1-1-1-2-6-10-19-30

I can only assume Elvis died part way through a chart week, or perhaps there were distribution problems the week it was no.4 due to the sudden unexpected demand for a track which hitherto looked like it might struggle to make even the top 40.

  • 1 year later...
Nena '99 Red Balloons' in 1984 (replacing Relax at no.1).. 31-11-2-1-1-1-2-11-20-39

One of the most recent examples has to be Animal by Connor Maynard:

61-34-{6}-7-11-34-

Suddenly jumps into the Top 10, stabilizes for 3 weeks before having a massive 23 place drop out of the Top 20

In a similar vein, Elvis - 'Way Down'.

I remember this well. Elvis died on a Tuesday and we found out late evening in the UK, and it made No.4 the following Tuesday then No.1. Probably insufficent copies available to send it from 42 to No.1.

Amazed by Lonestar. Never made the Top 20. Peaked at 21.

Can anyone get this track, purely from its chart run I wonder... ? :P

Nickelback "Rockstar" :manson:

Doesn't deserve to have a fabulous run like that, I wouldn't listen to it out of choice these days - one of the worst big hits of 2008.

Everyone at my school loved Rockstar at the time! Needless to say, it's a guilty pleasure for me these days.

I agree, but what an EPIC chart run. Being at #3 on your 21st charting week is so incredibly rare - probably only beaten by "Relax", "Think Twice" and "Rivers of Babylon". Doubt we'll ever see anything quite like that again.
