I Love The Way You Lie you naughty Rude Boy ... ;)

Those are singles by worldwide superstars though (still, Britney Spears' singles #2,#3 and #4 from Circus failed to match Womanizer's success). The past couple of years, singles seem to bomb after an album has been released, especially by new artists.

La Roux: Bulletproof was #1 but after the album was released, the next single peaked at #27. Same for Little Boots, Cascada, Owl City, Ellie Goulding, Scouting for Girls, Diana Vickers, Kate Nash, etc...

It seems it's all based around hype now. Fourth singles are already rare and I can see the same happening to Third singles.

It's mainly because all those acts are hugely hyped up, mainly by the BBC and Radio 1, but fail to live up to the hype.

Alex, Cheryl, JLS, have all have very succesful single runs for example, with all three releasing 3 singles which have entered the top 10. Plan B as well, perhaps includ Tinnie, Derulo, Ke$ha too

They were bound to do well anyhow especially with those 3 acts on the back of the X Factor show last year. Nadine releases her solo material this year when the X Factor is on, so she is bound to get a hit single out of it and the album will probably do the same.

And I reckon this year it will be a female winner, its been alternate for the past few years, male, female, male, female, male. if Joe gets dumped, notice the pattern the girls get to keep a record contract while the male winning acts have fallen by the wayside, I don't know what Shayne Ward is doing now though. Anyhow I'm going off random.

Shayne ward is the only male xfactor artist still to be signed to syco records, ryhdian left early this year

Sure the show would've helped their first single and album, but after that they're on their own. Look at Leona for example, once the show finished she disappeared this year.

Going slightly OT here but I think they'll be pushing for a girl group this year to be honest, there is a huge gap in the market for it.

They have lowerd diana album from £4.99 to £3.95 i hope rca can still make a profit :o

Yolanda's lead is very slender =/ I guess it'll open up over the week, but 2k isn't really that much

Anyway, yay for Plan B double-climbing, and Pendulum making top 40 :D

ELIZA TOP 5 + ALBUM ONLY DOWN 1 :w00t: :yahoo:  :yahoo:  :w00t:

The X-Factor does not guarantee success to any of the acts winners included. If this were the case Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackson and Shayne would still be having Top 10 hits.I think the momentum has continued for Alex, Cheryl and JLS because they have large loyal fanbases, they recieve rather too much media attention which keeps them in the public eye and increasingly outside of the X-factor they get booked to do good promotion slots.Shakira, Leona and Westlife did not do brilliantly out of their X-factor performances last year.A member of Aswaad (sorry if I have spelt it wrong) was saying at the Midland music festival that they are recording with Shayne. It is far too early for Diana's record label to be reducing the price of her album, she needs to release a more commrcial 3rd single.

1) Diana doesn't really have any more commercial songs on SFTTCT.

2) Leona sold around 83k after that performance which is pretty solid as well as peaking at #2. I think Westlife also had really strong sales too.

I think Notice and You'll Never get to Heaven are far better than TBWML and her voice does not sound annoying in those songs and the lyrics are good.Leona and Westlife did not get a great deal of long term momentum from their X-factor performances. :P

That's completely incorrect I think.

There are several potential hits on there, just maybe not so much 'potential' now the second single's doing badly but that's different.

I think notice or put it back together again should be third single and hopefully a xfactor performance with it..

and i hope her next video will be more interesting than tbwml video it was rather plain and boring except for those cartoon things

Mumford & Sons 4+4

Ahh, that's good. 17th week top 10. Should overtake Seth Lakeman I guess?

Holy crap Diana Vickers!!!

I bought it this week!!!

Great to see Americano number 1- slender lead yes, but it will pull away over the week unless B.o.B gets an unexpected huge surge in sales- which looks unlikely as its not on the Now album

I hope Pendulum, Scouting For Girls and Diana all hold on to their top 40 places - I like them all and their first singles did so well and its such a shame to see them flop with their second, great to see Dianas album shoot up so that make up for the single, so at least its not been a total flop, hell, if TBWML makes top 30 it will be good!

on the Mercury Music prize- Mumford and Sons have to win it, I hope its not like last year and a completely unknown act wins- Id rather an act I know whos made the top 40 but charted quite low and are underrated win it than someone who has no chance of a top 40 hit- having said that, I certainly do not want Dizzee Rascal winning it

Basshunters song will have a similar chart run to Every Morning last year

I hope Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree re-enters in the top 10 this week. I was surprised that it fell so quickly.
Basshunter is doing alot better than i expected and its his best chart position in ages.

Every Morning made #17 IIRC.

The follow-up I Promised Myself did only make #94 though, and the album Bass Generation flopped.
