confirmed to be back next year :cheer: but only for another 3 episodes :nocheer:

Hmmm, with this news and the news on the other thread that Luther is only coming back for two special episodes, it's seems to me to be proof that the Beeb has very little money at its disposal these days....

Well, frankly I'd gladly ditch crap like Eastenders, Doctors or Holby City if it meant more money was freed up for more episodes of Sherlock and Luther, I mean, if it's basically a choice like that....

I rather they did a Xmas episode to resolved the cliffhanger, its like BBC are cutting down on everything along with Doctor Who in two blocks. I wish Casualty / Holby City isn't on 52 weeks a year, they could cut Casualty/Holby City to 4 months. That would free up a lot of cash for other decent TV series
i am not getting whats the logic behind two episodes of Luther and 3 episodes of Sherlock Holmes :o

Exactly, it's bloody ridiculous that is... Especially when you see the likes of Sherlock is only getting three episode runs, and Luther only two new episodes next year.... I dont think that Torchwood is getting a full series either is it...? The Beeb is just full of sh"t sometimes.... <_<

Well, the "logic" is cost-cutting it would appear... But that doesn't make sense, as Mikey has pointed out, when you consider sh"t like Holby City and Casualty seem to be on constantly.... Trimming down these shows to 13 episode runs each would free up a lot of cash to make more episodes of other things you would think....

absolutely why they are spending money on retarded shows and ignoring good ones

We haven't heard the final word on Torchwood yet but I do hope we get 13 episodes.

I think cut Casualty and Holby in half and have them show in the same time slot as each other but at different times and them maybe go on to merge them.

Superb, the first one I've watched in full :o

The ratings will be gigantic.

Yes epic I expect. Big lead-in with Eastenders aswell. Perhaps 9-10 million viewers.

I wonder how many takes the scene where Sherlock solves the code on Irene Adler's phone must have taken!

By far the best thing on the TV and I am thrilled it is back. Really smart take on the Conan Doyle story.
I had never watched this before, and only really caught it off the back of Eastenders, but what a pleasant surprise. WONDERFUL. I agree the ending was perhaps a little obvious (as if they were just going to have Irene Adler killed offscreen with a shrug of the shoulders), but it's only a minor quibble.

That was wonderful, the combination of Eastenders/Sherlock/Ab Fab/Adele that I've watched this evening has been the best night of television I've seen in quite a while.

Puts the current film to shame also!

Wow, that was gripping drama, the best episode of the series, it did have me jumping out of my skin in places. I shall be watching that episode again, it just was perfection drama.
I far preferred the first episode...

Very strong episode.

Like many people I guessed for a long time that it was some sort of drug. Not once ever did I think it was in the fog though, excellent! I thought the CGI was perhaps the only thing that let the episode down. The BBC are not brilliant at CGI, and the demented dog was no exception! I'm so gutted that there are only three episodes yet again. Can't believe the series is over next week.

Is that really it? Just 3 episodes?!! Argh, I love this show (although I did prefer the opener to this one), why are all the best things so limited.

Really good reworking of the Hound of the Baskervilles (probably one of my fave books ever).

Any idea what they are doing next week?

I can't remember the title but

it's the story where Sherlock and Moriaty fight near the waterfall.
