K'Naan Warsame was fortunate to arrive in New York City during his teenage years, as the Somali Civil War was reaching its peak of bloodshed. After spending some time in Harlem, he and his family eventually settled in Toronto, where he began to develop his voice as a poet, which was heavily influenced by the cadences of the early rappers. K'Naan soon sparked attention, most of all from Senegalese musician Youssou N'Dour, who was moved by the young poet's performance in front of a U.N. refugees committee. While THE DUSTY FOOT PHILOSOPHER first saw release and acclaim (including a Juno award) in 2005/06, it was widely reissued in 2008. In the intervening period, artists ranging from Nelly Furtado to Mos Def began collaborating with K'Naan as he prepared new material and toured the world, spreading his message about the injustices against the Somali people. - HMV

I can remember I was at the Madonna concert in Hungary last year in August and before the concert they've played it

Did you enjoy the show in the rain by the way? :P

I was there too  (luckily I joined after they had played BEP lol)

She was soooooo late that night...

10 weeks top 40 for K'naan :D That's great for a football song, especially with how much of a trainwreck South Africa 2010 was.
Saturday reminds me of Wear My Kiss by Sugababes.

It's not that good!

Gentle piano-led indie popsters whose self-titled debut hit the top spot of the UK album chart in 2008. Musically, Scouting For Girls (the band's name a mildly humorous play on Robert Baden-Powell's 'Scouting For Boys' handbook) are similar to the Ben Folds Five, but lyrically they are closer to the Arctic Monkeys. After building up a large MySpace following (naturally their fans are known as Wolf Cubs), Scouting For Girls signed to Epic. The SCOUTING FOR GIRLS album featured the top ten singles "She's So Lovely" and the witty "Elvis Ain't Dead". - HMV

Before reaching legal age, Diana Vickers made herself a musical icon in the U.K., thanks to her fourth-place finish in the fifth season of the X-Factor competition. In January 2009, Vickers began working on her debut album, but she laboured over the album for more than a year without any releases to show for it. In April 2010, Vickers finally released her first single, "Once," which debuted on the U.K. singles chart at number one. The album Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree was released less than a month later and debuted at number one as well. As a contributor, Vickers also reached number one alongside her "X-Factor" co-finalists on the Christmas 2008 number one single "Hero." - HMV
