40  (from 35) Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart [D]

Chart Run: 71-xx(11 wks)-63-31-23-20-13-13-7-9-15-20-19-23-27-30-31-35-40 [18 wks]

Release date: 23-05-2010

Format: download only single

Label: J Records

Precocious R&B vocalist/pianist Alicia Keys was hand-picked by Clive Davis as one of the flagship artists for his post-Arista label, J Records. No doubt he was as impressed by her multitude of skills (Keys took a large role in the writing, arranging, and production of her debut album) as by her music, which mates contemporary hip-hop accoutrements to an old-school soul sensibility a la Jill Scott or D'Angelo. Only 20 years old at the time of the album's release, Keys already seemed poised for a major career built upon her soulful voice and classically trained piano chops. While hip-hop played a much bigger role on her second effort, 2003's THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS, it was a smash nonetheless, and subsequent recordings have further pushed the boundaries of R&B - HMV

If Eminem is at 3 at least, than he's a climber...

Guys, are you sure you didn't mishear? I'm sure I heard him say 4 :ne:, 4 , 4 :left: and 'the rest' (28)
I wonder if Stromae was #41 then...to be fair, he didn't go top 40 on iTunes until midweek and has never been top 20 so I wasn't actually expecting him to be top 40, unless he was bang on at #40. Next week I guess. He's slipping quickly on iTunes but it won't have had any promo since Friday. The new playlist kicks in tomorrow so he should start climbing again in the week and of course in subsequent weeks as he climbs up the playlist.

Gah at no Stromae :(

I blame Alicia for that! <_<

So, I thought I knew who's number 1! You are confusing me

Shakira being played! Am I hearing things!?!

And how on EARTH is it still charting?

I think giving away the Top 40 chart movement (up,down, non movers, new entries) counts as spoilers anyway!

Anyway I knew Stromae wouldn't be Top 40, just goes to prove Dave Taylor makes it up as he goes along...
