I'm saddened that Blue (Da Ba Dee) is completely ignored on UK radio/TV nowadays apart from in countdowns of this sort. Considering it's a million seller, it's so underrated now, real classic - I guess it's seen as novelty but the lyrics are much darker than the usual song of its kind.

I just don't understand why they've combined all the version of Three Lions! They haven't combined all the versions of Band Aid when they're all clearly the same song. The OCC really need to show some consistency!

Boney M was number 10 and Robson & Jerome number 9. They played them in the wrong order by mistake.

Yeh I know, I never questioned that :S

Madonna doesn't have any 1m single in UK :o

Possibly the biggest act not to have a million seller

Oops just checked. The Rolling Stones aren't included either :kink:

How much did Beatles - Yesterday sell?
How much did Beatles - Yesterday sell?

It was never released as a single while The Beatles were together. It was eventually released in 1976 and got to number eight. It has often been said that Paul McCartney could live very comfortably on the royalties from this one song but a lot of that income would be generated from cover versions.

Ahh I see! It's just I read how it's one of the most played songs of all time, and wondered why it hadn't made the list.

Cheers ;D

So, Bleeding Love, Poker Face and Spice Girls Say You'll Be There haven't made the million yet then :(

Poker Face is on ~991.8k, and selling 1-7-1.8k/wk now, so probably 5 weeks to go.

I agree. It's such a good song, and nobody talks about it anymore. :( It briefly got a bit popular during 2009 though, but I think that's because Flo Rida sampled the song, so everyone suddenly remembered it existed.

The OCC tell me that Alan Jones was consulted

about the Million Sellers - for his input. Alan

told them that 'Mysterious Girl' is almost at

1 Million UK Sales - but, it has not quite got

there - yet.

It looks like Alan has given it 652,000 Sales

for 1996, rather than the 754,000 that you get

if you use different 'Multipliers'.

The OCC also tell me that ALL Sales for the

Righteous Brothers, 'Unchained Melody', Bryan

Adams 1991 No.1, & Whitney's 1992 No.1, were

added in - that none are missing.

I was also told that the Top 100 will appear

- with Sales, ('Rounded' most likely), in the

'Hit Singles' Book, in November. But, the Sales

of several Hits will be lower than in the Radio

2 Top 100, as that went up to August, & the

'Hit Singles' Book, ends its Sales in early

April. That will give lower Sales to, 'Sex On

Fire', 'I Gotta Feeling', & 'Three Lions', to

name but 3.

In November 2002, 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina',

by Julie Covington, (1976), was on 993,000 UK

Sales. It has now sold over a Million. The OCC

tell me that it was that Hit that became the

1st UK Female Solo Single to sell a UK Million.

'Hallelujah', by Alexandra Burke, sold a UK

Million far, far faster, in 2008/2009, but the

Julie Covington Single had reached a Million

before her. So Alexandra was the 2nd UK Female

Solo Act to have a UK Million Selling Single.

Can the OCC shed some light on what the 101st million seller is, now that we know Mysterious Girl hasn't passed the mark yet?

I find it vaguely tragic that the great Bee Gees never had a million seller, but the forgettable Steps did so with a double A side that covered "Tragedy."

I'm surprised that Westlife never had a million seller as they've had 14 #1's.

Why should that surprise you I am sure most people would be hard pushed to name even three of their cover version No 1's.

Just remember a LOT of its sales were likely physical copies flogged off for less than a pound in the dying sales of Woolworth's
