Edge of Glory is the PERFECT CLOSER.

Not gonna lie, I think she WASN'T overhyping it. This possibly is the greatest album of the century so far, all killer no filler. But then, I am in full loon mode right now http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/disco.gif

'Heavy Metal Lover' is STUNNING. FU*KING LOVE IT. Its up there with 'Schibe' and 'Government Hooker' for me.
So..... which TRACK is the standout of this album if you have to pick?

I'm no loon but having skimmed over this entire album it sounds like it'll go down as one of, if not THE pop album of this generation. The level of creativity, ideas, songcraft packed across this record. It doesn't hit all the marks all the time but then no album (no matter how perfect does). It's just a beast that's going to take an immense of unfurling to understand and come to grips with and absorb.

The sheer number of ideas here though. Jesus. Amazing.

Ummm hello...'A Weekend In the City'?!

Just me then? Oh. :(

In all seriousness it is a good album but I still feel she was ridiculously overhyping it. 'Hair', 'Born This Way' and 'Bad Kids' are especially NOT-SO-GOOD imo. Having said that though, I'll happily overlook those disappointments due to the amazingness of 'Government Hooker'.

None of them are on YT :( I'm gonna be awake at like 6am now, just to go and d/l it :( I can't even like sneak downstairs to d/l, my mum's not asleep she's still down there! Will have to listen in the morning before school though, else I'll have to pull a sickie or something! I'm not sitting there through double PDC, PE, Maths and English having not heard what sounds like it could be my fave album ever by your reactions!

Poor Blackout, eh?

From the songs I've listened to so far ('Government Hooker', 'Sheiße' and 'Electric Chapel') it seriously sounds like she's chosen to relese the worst songs from the album as singles. Bizarre.

I had a feeling about it.

Gosh you making my excitement flying to the edge now. Hope i won't be the last one to hear the entire album on Monday.

Poor Blackout, eh?

Oh, Blackout was an all-killer-no-filler affair but that was all about the production, there wasn't much to it other than that - it was an album of some of the greatest mindless pop ever, but this has so much more to it

God, when the synths hit in on Government Hooker http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/disco.gif

A very experimental album, definitely. But if I'm honest at this moment ((and after only 1 play)I don't know whether it's because I'm just tired or not) I'm not really "feeling it"... But I can't help but feel I heard 'The Edge of Glory' too soon and therefore the hype for it was just sky-high and I'm just a little underwhelmed. I dunno. Probably not making much sense at the moment, because as I said at the moment I'm tired. And albums/songs nearly, always sound better after a good nights sleep. So I'll listen to it again tomorrow on FULL BLAST. Then give my opinions again.

My first listen rate will be coming shortly as I want something to compare my new scores with

Definitely all incredibly weak but then you factor in pretty much everything else, the flow of the tracklisting, the general left field nature of the entire record whilst retaining a strong pop aesthetic. Tracks like 'Highway Unicorn' and 'Scheiße'. Who else could ever have come out with something like 'Scheiße'?!

'Born This Way' is easily the worst thing on here. Bizarre it was the lead single. I mean really...

Poor Blackout, eh?

Paradoxes of records I'd argue. Both brilliant pop records; one accidentally for perhaps all the wrong reasons and the other, well I think you get my point...

I think I'll do a proper review for this once I've given it enough listens. Say MONDAY.
Amazing album. Definitely not as commercial as I predicted. I think a lot of the harder, rockier tracks will be growers but I do really like every track. My favourites at the moment still remain the ones that we heard early though (The Edge Of Glory, Hair, Judas.) You & I is incredible, so much better with the fuller production. Government Hooker is just insane! Bloody Mary, Marry The Night and Bad Kids are also stand-outs for me right now.

'You & I' is GENIUS. Absolutely stunning. Didn't think the final album version would top the live version, i was wrong.

First listen rate: (Those we haven't heard before)

01. 'Marry the Night' 06.5 [Yes I'd heard this before the leak but prior to that I only listened to it once...]

03. 'Government Hooker' 06.0

05. 'Americano' 07.0

07. 'Schiße' 07.5 [sounds like a grower!]

08. 'Bloody Mary' 07.0 [This is strange. I don't know if I like it or not. The dramatic "GaGa's" are amazing though.]

09. 'Bad Kids' 06.0 [it's alright. The verses are definitely the strongest part of this track.]

10. 'Highway Unicorn (Road 2 Love)' 08.0

11. 'Heavy Mental Lover' 07.0

12. 'Electric Chapel' 08.0

13. 'You & I' 09.0 [Definitely the best of the unheard tracks. Still get a 4-Non Blondes 'What's Going On?' vibe from it]

Will review again as soon as I've listened to it more times. I WILL love this album, eventually. -_-
